This trail runs from behind the outlet mall on Rt.1 in Rehoboth Beach into the of Lewes. You can start the trail from Church Street in town if you are staying in Rehoboth proper or you can drive to the outlet, unload bikes from your car and start at that point. My whole family loves this trail. It winds its' way through a long stretch of woods where the old railroad line used to run. Along the way you will pass by the fields of the Rehoboth Dairy's farm, historic old neighborhoods and some lovely private homes. It comes out on a new subdivision in Lewes called Senators. From there, if you wish, you can continue on a path designed to continue the trail through the neighborhood. At the end of that trail, you can continue onto the narrow road beyond the subdivision that will eventually take you directly into the main town of Lewes. People bike, walk and jog all along this trail. It is peaceful, quiet and, for the most part, cool and shaded when temperatures rise in the summer. The trail is about 3 1/2 miles in one direction so you would be looking at a 7 mile bike ride if you went the whole way and back again. One word of caution. If you have an accident or feel ill along the way, it can be difficult to get help, depending upon where you are. I had a friend who fell ill on the trail and we were committed to having to walk back to the trail head. It took well over an hour on foot. I have seen one park ranger in all the time I've been on the trail which is to say, not very often. In the spring, summer and fall I'm on the trail at least once a week so one sighting of a park ranger says they are not readily available. Fortunately, on the day my friend fell ill, I had my cell phone and was able to contact friends who picked him up after we made it to the trailhead. Another friend had to ride his bike back to my house for him. Be sure to bring water for the same reason. Once on the trail, there are no facilities for bathrooms or water. This trail is long but it's flat so it's not difficult. I see little kids on the trail with their parents all the time. Just be sure you are prepared. Bring your cell phone and plenty of water. Once you get to Lewes you can pop into town and have something to eat before you head back home.

This trail is largely flat, but has some gentle slopes. Mostly wooded, you would not be comfortable with skinny street tires on your bike. The views of the marsh are lovely and the trail is shaded. At the Lewes side, you end up in a development. From there, you can make your way to downtown Lewes (on streets until the path is completed) and cross the bridge to get to the Gordon's Pond trail to complete a full loop.

The trail runs from Rehoboth to and around Lewes, some 5 plus miles. With the addition of the new Gordon Pond trail at Cape Henlopen park, you can make it a circuit run / ride of approx. 17 miles; or you can pause in Lewes for some great ice cream offerings, if you're willing?

We just happened upon this little gem Cannot wait to ride our bikes from Rehoboth Beach to Lewes and then back!

A friend told me about these trails, and they do not disappoint. Nice big parking lot near the outlets, and ( near Bananna Republic) the outletshave a bathroom facility right there. I've run, walked, biked and taken my dogs for walks. Well maintained, well marked, and in the summer quite a few shady trails. I've never felt unsafe, as there always seems to be a few runners/ bikers. Great place to get out and enjoy a little nature.

We first explored this trail via our bikes which makes for a pleasant and easy ride. We rode from the outlets in Rehoboth all the way to Cape Henlopen and through Gordons Pond to loop back around...what an awesome ride. Then, I took up running and started running this trail. I LOVE running here! I even ran my first half marathon here this month. It's so scenic and quiet. I saw a huge flock of snow geese there this week on my run. The trail is always changing with every season and never gets old.

With the Gordon's Pond Trail open, you can ride from Lewes to Rehoboth Beach with minimum time on the roadway. The Junction and Breakwater trail scenic.

This is a good trail leading into the back side of Rehoboth beach. As a locals group of neighbors ride from their to Rehoboth, grab breakfast on the boardwalk and ride back. Nice tree lined path if you head north on the trail but to get to Lewes from this trail one must ride a distance on a highway once you exit the trail.

You can ride between Lewes and Rehoboth beach using each of these two trails Combine them for a 15.5 mile round trip ride that is beautiful!

You'd never know you were in the heart of a busy resort area; it seems more like a state park. Beautiful woods, tidal overview, and fields, along a very well groomed paved trail, ideal for families, bikers, and walkers.

EarlyOut

Beautiful trail through coastal woodlands, farms, and tidal marshes, away from the hustle and bustle. But at the Lewes end, hang a right on Gills Neck Rd rather than staying on the "official" trail that uses Kings Highway - no bike lane, but very little traffic, and very bucolic.

Not a long trail but a nice way to connect Rehoboth and Lewes if you take the coastal trail via Cape Henlopen State Park. Surface if crushed limestone.

This trail continues to evolve. The path on the old train bed is fascinating with flora and fauna , and the route over to Lewes keeps improving. It's FLAT, of course, which makes it easy to ride and talk.

Nice trail with lots of nearby parking. If biking, you can ride from Lewes to Rehoboth Beach or vice-versa.

This was a great trail! We are avid bicyclists and this trail provided a relaxing, enjoyable ride with a great view and a mix of sun and shade. We biked from Lewes to downtown Rehoboth Beach which took a total of 55 minutes including some stops for pics. The ride back was the same time frame. Great way to spend the day getting some exercise and nature!
