We go through during the fair every year. There are always civil war people with cannons, medical tools, etc and they are very willing to tell the kids how life was. The water wheel is running a lot and they explain to the boys how it works. The train station and new train museum are great. Seeing the houses the way they were built is always cool.

This historical "village" is actually on the Wilson County Fairgrounds on the outskirts of Lebanon. It is free, although there is a donation box in the General Store, where you sign the guest book, buy a snack, and sit on the porch rockers and chat with the volunteer. She will give you a map of the buildings, which you view from the doorway. Read the signs and you will learn the origins of each one. Someone had the foresight to move and restore a tiny hospital, jail, cabin, funeral home, gas station, store, and popcorn stand, as well as the original kitchen that made bread for cracker barrel. There is more, but we only had about an hour and a half to spend. You will marvel at the detail of the interiors. Objects I had forgotten about altogether! Really fun for the kids, as there is loads of room to run, nice trees and shade, and picnic tables.

Had a ball at second Sat the 14th and fun was had by all. Vickie Eads really helped put together a great event and considering several buck danacer really kicked up their heels or should I say flip flops. Great fun for kids, addults and elderly.

A great place to see restored building from various parts of Wilson County. Love the music on the back porch stage at the general store during special times and the fair.

We were in town to visit relatives during Christmas and driving back to the hotel, we saw they were having a Christmas Lights Display. It only cost $5, which was great have paid more other places. It was just wonderful! There were not to many cars at the time we went through and could stop and take pictures, an added plus. Would like to go back and see inside the old buildings later.

We are definintely history buffs, and I think the seed was planted waay back during elementary school reading about the Civil War and early 1800's pioneers. When we get an opportunity to walk thru a village filled with buildings and tools of that era, it really makes us feel like we lived through some of that ... maybe we DID!Fiddler's Grove located on the very easy to find Wilson County Fairgrounds, SE of downtown Lebanon, and just north of I-40 at exit 239. Buildings from this era have been donated by the private owners and estates and then relocated to depict what a pioneer village would be like. shaded by old trees, lovingly cared for by volunteers, you can walk past the big front porches decorated with flowers to sit on the rocker or swing and imagine smelling the meat in the smoke house out back. Some vintage farm implements are scattered about the buildings, there is a jail, Sam Houstons' Law office, a hospital, drug store, general store, post office, train stop (complete with caboose) and beautiful church with stained glass windows. During the annual Wilson County Fair (August 17-24, 2013) the buildings are open with docents operating or explaining life "back in the day" to visitors. The day we visited, all buildings were closed, but it was fun to peer into the windows (some the original wavy glass!) and see the implements used. For children, there is plenty of room to run around, or down the lane ~ for adults, it's a nice way to spend an afternoon ~ and there are PLENTY of photo opps at every turn. I took over 100 photos during our 2 hour visit. Even visitors in wheelchairs could navigate the roughly paved lane that meanders through the village.Oh, and did I mention the admission price ? F*R*E*E* the Sunday we stopped in - am sure donations are welcome when the fairgrounds office is open. For RVers, the fairgrounds offers LOTS of nice, level spaces - no sewer, but a dump station near the exit, so give them a call and spend at least a night if you are passing through. They are located at 945 E Baddour Pkwy, Lebanon, TN (615) 443-2626

the fairgrounds area must, beautiful, clean and what a learning experience for adults and children alike, of how life was lived years ago! Great setup of an old village....HISTORIC!!! The Wilson country fair in August is one of the best!!!! Great food, great people and wonderful overall visit!

The buildings that were moved to Fiddler's Grove from around the Wilson County area are authentic. There's much to be learned about their history. I enjoy the walking guided tours of the grove and I have also gone through by wagon during an event there.

Pioneer village is often over looked possibly because of its location within the fairgrounds but it is worth the visit. The Wilson County Fair board has done a wonderful job of setting up this little village. During the fair each year they have many people working it such as the blacksmith. It is a great family friendly place to visit.
