We camp at Chatfield State Park often during the spring, summer and fall because it has so many different RV sites to choose from. Some sites overlook the lake while others provide a scenic view of the surrounding foothills. With so many sites to choose from, you need to reserve your favorite site early (because it may be someone else's favorite also). The wind sometimes comes up in the afternoon, so don't leave your RV awning out and be away from the campsite... it may not be attached to the RV when you get back. We've seen several "pop-up" awnings/shade structures go flying when a sudden gust of wind rolls through the campsites. All RV campsites are paved and mostly level, although some sites seem to slope away from the road (not sure why they did this), so some slight leveling may be required.Full-Hookup sites are the most popular and go fast, so reserve early in the year for best availability.

The dog park at Chatfield State Park is well laid out. My dogs have loved the freedom to socialize with both humans and other dogs. The pets enjoy the two lakes that they can access.

We are yearly pass holders and mostly utilize the dog park. There are about 1.5 miles of paved and unpaved trails and over 100 acres of area for your dog to roam. There are a couple of ponds for your dogs to cool off in, so bring a towel (your animals will be sandy and muddy!).

This park is great for fishing and hiking, biking and the marina has an amazing restaurant hidden behind the general store. Check out the giant carp when walking towards the store!

The camping areas are covered in goose poop. No where when you register does it tell you that even though you reserved a full hookup site there is NO water at the sites. The site we reserved in advanced was occupied when we got there. We were told to take a different spot only to be told the next day that we would have to move again. The camp hosts and their homeless friends STOLE our stuff from the laundry room. They even stole lip gloss!

Large park with a variety of trails, although they can be crowded with bicycles and horses. We typically prefer Roxborough State Park because it is more interesting and they don't allow dogs and bicycles. The marsh areas at Chatfield are good for bird watching and we often see coyotes.

This park is huge. There are many things to do from biking, hiking, canoeing, boating, horse back riding and most importantly for us a wonderful dog park. There is a daily price to enter, but if you live in the area you can purchase a yearly pass at a discounted rate. We mainly go for the large dog park. There is a pond and plenty of space for the dogs to run and play with walking trails. The only thing I can think of that isn't here is a lot of trees so it has limited shade if you go in the summer. We have been boating here, but it is only the size of a small lake to us, I have heard that they are going to enlarge it and build a marina as well. They need that because it always seems to be pretty crowded on the water. There is another "pond" for non motorized water fun too which is nice. There is camping available and the grounds are kept pretty clean.

This park offers so many outdoor activities that make you feel good all over and refresh you for action. The many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors are for your choosing. Stables nearby offer riding opportunities and your outdoors activities can be satisfied.

Chatfield State Park is a place that makes a variety of year round activities possible close to the city. One can rollerblade, bikes, run/jog.... There is a fee as it is a state park to drive in. However, parking is available, although limited parking space, close to Aspen Grove Shopping Center and access to the Chatfield area is free via this parking area.

We keep our boat in the marina here is the summer. We enjoy the lake - water is a bit cool but hey - it's Colorado! Sometimes it gets crowded but once again- limited water like this in Colorado. Most boaters here are experienced and know how to behave on the water.

We took the grandchildren on an adventure hike and they easily made it through the end without on of us carrying them.

We had a full hookup site. It was a level pull through. Huge sites. We were there for a week. Will use this park again and again.

Fun weekend not far away from Denver. Clean bathrooms. Fishing was good. Nice hiking paths. Could use more shady area's.

The entire park was very crowded because it was Labor Day weekend. Other than that it is a great place for boating.

This is a nice large park with plenty to do in Southwest Denver Suburbs. We have hikes from Watertown Canyon along the Platte River to the southern end of the park in the Summer. bring lots of big spray. There are plenty of Mosquitoes. We have also done some hikes near the reservoir in the winter. The winter hikes are much better. The reservoir is well frozen with lots of ice fisherman.
