the raven at three peaks

Played over Labor Day weekend. Weather was great till the 14th hole then got hit with a hail shower long enough to make it looked liked it snowed. I have played this course before and it is one of the best courses I played. Mid-handicapper but worth the challenge! Superb views and you can't beat the fresh mountain air! I will play this course every time I'm in the area.

Had a mid afternoon tee time through the internet, but was able to get in a full round before dark. The masrshall that started us gave us a few tips about the course before we started. We were right at four hours for 18 holes with a few waits on the groups ahead of us. Happened to catch the aspens changing colors which made the course even more beautiful. The course has several holes with huge elevation drops. The carts have GPS and range balls are included. An online site has one or two mid afternoon tee times at a discount, otherwise it would be a little pricey. Highly recommended.

Being an average golfer the course was tough for me. I found the fairways very hard to hit off of and could not read the greens - so my putting was erratic to say the least. I thought the front looked the same until you got to 8 & 9 and those holes had some character to them. l liked the back nine better. There was a lot of bunkers and the greenside ones were very steep So don't get in them! The staff was very good and helpful. You could get worn out very fast on some the hills so if you aren't use to the elevation take your time.

It's like playing golf on intermediate ski slopes. Carts are required and even with carts, still a considerable amount of climbing. If you book online, the prices are sometimes higher than if you negotiate a green fee in the clubhouse. Tough course, friendly staff

Great views. Can be a difficult course so watch the t's you play. There are too many finger bunkers. But, good shape, great staff and an "experience". A couple holes are really unusual and challenging.

When I look for a golf course, there are 4 things that I look for: 1. Course Layout, 2. Course Condition, 3. Service, 4. Pace of Play. The Raven at 3 Peaks is a course that misses it really badly on two of the four. 1. The layout of the course is nice to very good. Not great...but it does have a good layout including several holes that are very interesting. 2. Course condition is HORRIBLE for a course that charges over $100. I don't think that they have worked on the bunkers in weeks if not months. There is grass growing in the bunkers! Most bunkers had one rake and on a couple of the holes the rake was busted. The condition was more of a low end municipal course instead of a resort course. 3. The service was nice and friendly so I have no major complaints about the service. 4. Pace of play was 5 hours. When I checked in I was told that they had three marshalls on the course and they kept the pace at about 4 hrs and 20 minutes to 4 hrs and 30 minutes. I did see a couple of marshalls, but they did NOTHING to keep the pace of play going. The foursome in front of us ended up with at least 2 holes between them and the foursome in front of them...and nothing was done to get them to close the gap.

Playing today for the first time with locals, we had a great time on this very scenic course with multiple elevation changes and scenic views of the valley. With 5 tee placements, golfers of every skill level can find a length that suits them. I especially liked that the greens are very fair and not tricked up - while they have a lot of undulating greens, they're readable. The course is in excellent shape and the clubhouse (which has a pleasant dining room overlooking the course) is a must stop before leaving.

The course is in great shape; the heavy snow and recent rains have really helped. We played on a Monday morning at the end of June with a mid-morning tee time. Never saw another group. Greens, fairways, tee boxes, all in good shape. Without saying, some great views and the condors were in residence. Quite a sight. The course layout is a good challenge. Great round.

I played the course 2 days after the first snow and it was in great shape. Greens were rolling 11 easy. Fairways were like hitting off a mat. The Par 3's will test your long irons and the Par 5's will test your nerve. Lots of trouble on the backside of most greens. I can't wait to play it again.

I host an annual golf outing in Colorado with friends from all over the USA. We played multiple courses and had a great experience until we teed off at the Raven on our final day. Our tee time was at 1:24PM. When we arrived, they had zero carts available and scrambling to get us to the range. Once we teed off, our pace of play was miserable. We were on hole nine at 7PM. More than 5.5 hours for the round. John From DenverI followed up with an email to the clubhouse and never heard back. This was very disappointing considering they have one of the most premium fees for a round of golf in Summit County

Have played this course several times over the last couple of years. Great vistas. The course is expensive as most of these resort type courses are. Needs some maintenance repairs on the cart paths (especially on the back nine) but a fun course that you can't miss out on.

I tried to play this course, but got pummeled by the course. We were paired with another couple that also had troubles. The course was not disappoointing in scenery, but the course was highly undulated on the greens and the course was highly roving and unlevel. Try this course at your own peril

The Raven is a beautiful Colorado mountain course. There are many elevation changes, some dramatic downhill holes and a few uphill, not sure if carts are required but walking would be a challenge. They've had some rain so the course is is great shape, lush and green (check for the moose hanging out in the willows holes 5 and 6). The staff is friendly and the restaurant pretty good. In the early summer the resident osprey are rearing their chicks on hole three. Quite a sight. The ravens will pluck shiny things and food out of your cart so beware. Fees are not cheap but worth it especially with the VIP golf package (2 for 1).

We live here and had not golfed here till friends came to visit. I am recovering from shoulder surgery so no playing for me though my husband had a great time and now walks the course daily

You will really love this layout - if you are a mountain goat. That's not a criticism, just a fact. This course has more dramatic elevation changes than any course I have ever played. That makes for challenging golf in determining club selection. That was made even more difficult the day we played by the strong, gusty winds. I don't know if it's just the weather and resulting growing conditions in the mountains, but the fairways had many bare or dead spots and the lies were very thin. A few greens suffered from the same conditions. Given the price, I don't think it's worth it. But, other courses I've played in the mountains suffer some of the same so who knows. We played in 4 hours as a twosome which is awesome for resort golf. Finally, the really saving grace are the sometimes spectacular views.
