This is how you would get to the Star in the weather, where climbing to the top and sliding down is encouraged! Bouldering the monkey or y traverse is known in this area but bring a pad bc the falls are uneven and you could hurt an ankle very easily. There are a few lead and toprope routes. You can see people climbing for the road. Great daytime or nightime drive but please pull to the side if people are behind you. When it snows do not go up unless you have 4wd or you will find yourself in a ditch. Birdwatching and wildlife is very abundant on this road from hawks, golden eagles and mountain loins. If you drive to walkers ranch it is great mountain biking and the keep going up to the Gross Damn reservoir for amazing views, fishing, and camping. 4 wheeling road is also in the area but do your research first for closures.

Excellent service, the duck I had was the best ever. wonderful views of the Boulder valley, have room on your credit card

Loved the views and experience. Worth the trip for me. Disliked nerve wracking drive up baseline with cars honking at times when it wasn't safe to pass cyclists. But still, worth doing in my book.

A must if you are in the Boulder area. The drive is gorgeous, especially in the winter. But it can be a bit icy, so go slow or have a four wheel drive. Gorgeous views and a hike at the top.

The drive up was icy and a little scary. Plan on having 4 wheel drive. We didn't and we got stuck in a snow bank. We were rescued and were close enough to the top that we could walk up the final switchback. The view is breathtaking especially with the snow. I definitely wouldn't mind checking it out in summer when I'm less worried about sliding off the mountain or falling off the edge because of ice. Worth it though.

After seeing the Flatirons, drive up the hill a bit and stop at the Flagstaff Summit. An easy drive or hike to the top. Stop, take a dip breath and enjoy the view. Restrooms available up top along with a outdoor amphitheater and a breathtaking view. Great place to overlook Boulder.

Love that it's halfway up the Flatirons with a fab view of the Boulder Valley. Be aware, it isn't cheap, which is why I only go there for special occasions (like our 25th anniversary). If you tell them, they'll do some kind of special something for you, like they made us a special dessert. Oh, the food is pretty darned good, too!

This is a gruelling ride on a bike or a lovely drive in a car, with a short walk at the top. It is highly worth the visit. There are quite magic picnic tables right at the top with views across the Rockies or overlooking Denver. A must do for any trip to Boulder.

The views are stunning and many paths are wheelchair accessible. Pictures here make it easy for a person to look like a pro. Nice folks along the trail in a friendly community.

Take a trek to the Boulder Star during the holidays or simply drive up to take in the view of the city at night or the sunrise.

This is a great place to drive up to when visiting Boulder. It's a short drive, but gets you to some great hiking trails and wonderful views of Boulder Valley. If you are time constrained and have people visiting Boulder for the first time, this is a wonderful place to take them. Be sure to take them to the amphitheater at the peak. Great spot.

Didn't have time for a major hike in the Rockies, so we did a quick visit to Flagstaff. Some beautiful short hikes on the way there, but it also gives flatlanders who have not quite adjusted to the thin Colorado sie a chance to drive to the summit and experience outstanding views of the mountains. It is a treasure, just a stone's throw from the CU campus and the heart of Boulder.

Quintessential mountain roads up/down Flagstaff only adds to the experience but make sure your breaks are good!

You won't regret a visit to Flagstaff Mountain. There are several places to pull off the road and hike or just sit at picnic tables and stone shelters to enjoy the stunning views of town and mountains.

Flagstaff Mountain offers the best views of Boulder (at least the best without a major hike or climb). There hiking trails available. Be sure to stop at some of the overlooks. Watch out for bicyclists and cars towing boats. Vehicles that are not registered in the city of Boulder have to pay for parking.
