I had read that the Baldpate Inn had a neat room with many keys. Since we love visiting Lily Lake in RMNP & the Baldpate is just across the highway, we decided to stop by after a hike around the lake. There were surprised by both the number of items & the amount of historical data that was available. We could have spent a lot longer at the Inn as it was very interesting. If you go, give yourself at least an hour. They also have the option for you to leave a key with a note (they provide the tag). Some of the notes were quite funny and worth thumbing through.

this place sure has a lot of history. We wanted to eat there but there wasn't a menu. it was whatever the chef made that day. If you didn't like it, well then too bad. So we had to leave.

The amazing thing about the Baldpate Inn is that the dining room is on the upper level and the porch seating is surrounded by windows which have multiple hummingbird feeders suspended from the soffets. Our feeders usually have 8 hummers sipping nectar and another 8 - 10 suspended in flight awaiting a free place to alight. Amazing entertainment!! The food is good on the brunch but the setting is the best of all.

The Baldpate Inn's Key Room Collection is a "Must See" on any visit to Estes Park. There is History all around and much to be learned about the Estes Valey. Don't miss it!

There seems to be 1,000s of keys in the room; but that's not all -- they have little stories about them, who owned them, what they opened... from famous people and places (and even castles). It is a fun place to visit; but mostly to go next door to eat at the Bald Pate Inn; yum! a favorite of mine. It's also a great photo opp.

We had the soup & salad lunch at Baldpate Inn. Service was great and the food (all homemade and freshly prepared) was excellent. The Inn was very quaint and isolated, but was great fun to eat there. The old lodge, the key collection and the views back to Estes Park were great. We enjoyed our time there.

If you like history with rustic and class, go to the Baldpate Inn. I cannot exactly describe the experience but it was lovely. I went there for lunch and would go back everyday if I could!

I tried calling to see if we needed a reservation for dinner and got an answering machine suggesting getting on-line. The website said they were open until 8Pm & I was able to get a reservation for 7PM. We drove out there - about 10 miles - only to find out that they were closed. We walked in, asked if the dining room was open and the young man stated that they had closed at 4PM. It would have been nice had their answering machine stated that & we wouldn't have wasted our time driving out there.

Beautiful views, great service, lovely staff and wonderful home made soup & salad bar. Visit the most interesting Key Room.

We were here a year or two ago and enjoyed it. This visit was not so good. The place looks and smells (bathroom) a little dirty. We had to wait. Service was fair. Food was only fair. I don't think we'll go back.

The sheer volume of keys is little overwhelming! The ride up to the inn is not for the feint of heart (cliffs) but the view is absolutely gorgeous!

The innkeepers at our hotel told us we should check this place out. We were not disappointed! According to them, this building is a largely original structure from the early 1900s. Fur trappers apparently used to stay here back in the old days. It's a neat old place and we loved watching the numerous hummingbirds right outside the windows, which also provide a lovely view of nearby mountains. The menu basically consists of a salad bar, some breads, a choice of two soups and some desserts. Everything tasted pretty good. The chili was okay. Our two lunches with iced tea and water came to about $30. We didn't have any room left for dessert! The key collection in the next room was more interesting than I had expected it to be. A pleasant young man greeted us and gave us a little history of the room. He showed us some of the highlights, such as keys to rooms in the Pentagon, NASA, and even a key that belonged to Adolf Hitler. There are keys wall-to-wall and even hanging from every part of the ceiling. It was actually pretty cool. Visitors are invited to leave behind a key of their own with a message to be displayed along with the other keys for future visitors to see. And if you don't have a key on you that you can spare, they have some "orphaned" keys to which you can attach a message for display as well. This is a neat old place. The service is friendly and the ambience is unique. Right across the road from the property is Lily Lake. It's a beautiful place to take an easy walk and I think there are some more challenging trails nearby for those who are so inclined.

Baldpate Inn is the real deal with history oozing out every corner. Large key collection includes incredible variety anywhere from the Titanic, to presidents's keys, that go so far back in history. Old photographs with famous visitors, great soup and salad bar with home-made pies and full bar and beautiful mountain views make this place a must-see on every visit to Estes Park!
