We did other things during the early part of the day. We had not been to Hurd before. When we got there we saw there was so much to do we didnt leave ourselves enough time. We picked apples and will go back next weekend to do the activities and eat and get some pumpkins! There is just so much to do. The orchards are big and getting good apples was no problem! This is now on the list of things to do every fall.

This was my first visit to the farm with the grand kids very organized parking and layout, one draw back is they should enlarge the barn for the sale of items, lines were extremely long for checkout

This was my 2nd time at Hurds in 5 years. It's changed a lot. While there are still apple orchards and a corn maze, there are now rides / activities for kids. They charge $14.50 admission and $10 for seniors. After 3 pm it's $7.50 pp. We arrived at 3 pm. We waited for one of 2 vehicles that pull visitors on a truck bed with seats (one has hay too) into the orchards. You can get off an pick your own apples, wait for another ride, and return to the main building, a barn. New additions include: a large surface that functions as a trampoline and a tractor pulled train of individual seats painted like a cow: "the cow train." When we went to tack a ride on the train, the operator disconnected it announcing he was closing as it was 4:45 (although the owner was still accepting admission fees.) When the owner was asked, he did have the cow train set up for 1 more ride. They did close promptly at 5. From a business perspective, I wondered why they didn't stay open until dark. The Farm was very, very busy on this beautiful, and very warm, fall weekend. We had to wait in short lines for everything. The barn serves as the entrance and shop. To buy applies, you have to buy bags. The large bag was $22. the medium, $11, and the small $6.50. They also sell cold drinks, hot cider ($1.50 - but not popular on this hot day), cold cider, pumpkins, gourds, apple butter, candy, pears, & popcorn. If you don't want to walk through the orchards picking your own apples, you can pick your apples from the boxes of fresh apples in the barn. They are sorted by type. Bathrooms were "port - a - potties" - not so good. The grounds are dirt, gravel, & grass. We had a very senior citizen and a medically fragile teen, both had some difficulty navigating the grounds

I have been coming here every fall for the past 7 years. They have made many changes that are extremely disappointing. They FENCED in the whole farm. Terrible flow! No more orchard openness feel. We used to come and walk and walk. It looks like a prison. Hurds, you made a bad choice. You can't go back and forth between the play area etc. So disappointed! The people and staff are great people. I think they just made it too commercial. The barn was SOOO packed! Don't go on a weekend! Take down the fencing!

I love this park for the views, the lakes, and the trails. It is a magical place. There are signs of significant trail maintenance which is long overdue.

They have plenty of activities for everyone including hayrides, apple picking, a pumpkin patch, cow train, corn maze, and apple launcher. They even had some apples left to pick in late Oct, but for the best selection, go earlier in the year. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well as with serving food to a large group. The corn maze could be a bit bigger and better maintained as it was largely trampled down toward the end of the season and apples were pretty picked over, but I'd imagine it's a different story earlier in the season. Try one of the amazing pumpkin chocolate chip muffins.
