The Murals here are very good and a must see if visiting the island - either before or after lunch (try the gavel across the road - see review). On first entering the hall you are greeted warmly by the staff who are so helpful that you don't mind at all going through the security scanner. They give you a lovely colourful printed leaflet on the murals that you can take away and that describes them and the building in detail. The Murals are not advertised outside the building (which is directly opposite the ferry terminal) - so you have to go in and ask but are Free of Charge to see.Highly Recommended - Enjoy

My first visit to the epicenter of the " Rock" and it was a well maintained building and beautiful entrance. It is directly across from the ferry terminal and location location location! I met up with my local leaders and shared in a tech meet-up.

A few hundred feet from the ferry terminal is Borough Hall, home to local government. The historic building boasts restored murals on its main level which serves as a gallery space for those wishing to learn about the island's history. The large marble atrium is grand and welcoming.

It may be strange to think of a local government building as a tourist attraction, but the lobby of the Staten Island Borough Hall has a series of murals painted in the 1930s by Frederick Charles Stahr, a local artist. The murals depict the history of Staten Island, and are worth a stop at the Borough Hall.

I love this building I think it is the prettiest of all the borough halls. It is directly across the street from the ferry. The art exhibits in the main lobby are a wonder to see and the ceiling one just has to see it. It had a face lift about a year.

Borough Hall is one of the six attractions advertised by www.VisitStatenIsland.com in their leaflet 'Fun awaits you just off the ferry'. We boarded the Staten Island Ferry for free ride from Manhattan and went just across the road outside the St. George ferry terminal to see this great hall which is in fact the office of the borough president. The building is impressive, but nothing so very special was seen inside, except a hall on ground floor where on the walls you will find 12 or 13 Mural paintings depicting the history of how Staten Island was found in 1524 by Giovanni da Verrazano, and ending with Bayonne Bridge Under Construction in 1930s.It is well advised to see this hall if you have enough time in hand and if you are in Staten Island for any other important purpose; not just for this hall to see it.; although it is free Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm.......

The only thing to see is the hall... but it is really beautiful and interesting.Do not come to Staten Island just for this but if you are there, take some time and go see it.There are paintings on the walls recalling the history of Staten Island, some paitings dating from the 30's or 40's.It is right across the street from the ferry terminal. It's free.It closes at 5:00PM.
