Visited the place just after Chrismas. It was cold and naked. Still very beautiful. Entrance is free during winter time. On a nice day, it's beautiful despite the cold weather. It should be amazing during spring when the cherry trees blossom. we saw some people jogging there. This is a splendid idea for winter.

Beautiful gardens filled with sweet scents from the hundreds of flowers that make it fun for adults and children alike. Well worth the visit and if you are on a budget go during the free hours Saturday mornings.

I live in the Bronx and am spoiled by our botanical garden, so it's hard to top that. However, I have visited gardens in Dublin, Rome, Naples, Paris, and Giverny, and I must say Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a spring must-see site. I have gone numerous times over the year and I'd say the two best times to go are probably during the cherry blossom fest (spring) and in mid-summer, when most plants are in bloom. What I like about this site is that there's a Japanese pond and rock garden that you can walk around, spotting koi, turtles, and various bird species, all which make excellent photos. The bonsai collection, tropical, and aquatic plant rooms are also must-sees. Another plus is that there are at least two entrances, so you can enter through opposite sides of the neighborhoods and access transportation easily.

We came to the gardens in the late fall, which is not usually the best time to visit gardens. However, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden was beautiful. The highlights for us were the edible garden, the lily pond, and the creative Shakespeare Garden (featuring plants and flowers from his writings). We also saw a large hawk in a tree while in the garden. It was as if we had left the city behind. Everything is beautifully maintained. The Garden also has a very nice visitor center.

spent 1,5 hours in the line to get in. Constructions were all over the ''garden''. No plants, no flowers. just crowd watching poor Japanese performance on the stage or laying on the ground under naked trees. Terrible!!! claimed our money back! wasted time!

A great place to walk and see all the beautiful flowers, plants and trees. The trees were just changing colors when we were there.

The Brooklyn botanical gardens is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature. They exhibit the most beautiful flowers, shrubbery, babbling ponds and amazing fish. They even have a great gift shop where you can purchase some of their exquisite beauty. As an added bonus the Brooklyn Museum is in walking distance. A must go!

This is probably the only place in New York City without hustle, bustle and crowds. You can hear yourself think here. There is even a section for the sightless which everyone can enjoy because its particular collection caters to sensations of touch and smell. The indoor Greenhouse and Hot House display samples of plants and trees from every climate zone on our planet. Spring, winter, summer or fall; the best time to visit is now...no matter when "now" is.

An oasis in a metropolis! Each season has its highlights. Experience them all if you can. The Botanic Garden never disappoints.

This is the place for plant lovers.A great place to visit when you're looking for things to do.Go up the road visit the Brooklyn Museum on Eastern Pky.When you're finished you can spend some time strolling along the gardens.Sometimes they have sales on plants and flowers, that's a good deal.Either way you have spent a wonderful day out.Only thing is for out of towners or people who are clear of head, this is Brooklyn, don't leave any valuables out in the open. I can guarantee you they won't be there when you come back. That is,Iphones,GPS,smartphones ,tablets or portable DVD's. If you can take the subway,it's much safer.

Full disclosure: I live close to the BBG and am an active volunteer there. It has been a favorite haunt of mine for 35+ years. That said, the BBG is a must see garden for anyone who loves gardens: its 52 acres are easily strolled in over the course of a few hours IF you are a tourist in New York. Residents and people with more time will find it a place they want to return to again and again. Not only will you be treated to world class horticultural displays year round (in the 15 distinctly unique gardens within the Garden), but also for people watchers, the spectrum of humanity you will walk among is pure delight. Families of every age, race, culture and class are to be seen, often in their ethnic best finery. Holiday events at the BBG attract children, teenagers, young adults, parents and grandparents. Spring is beyond glorious ( during Hanami (the Asian spring flower watching time) and winter is equally charming when the bones of the trees expose their sculptural essence and many exotic indoor displays (desert, tropical, Mediterranean, Aquatic and Bonsai) are open to explore in the Steinhardt Conservatory. In the winter months there is no entrance fee. It's best to check the website beforehand for specific entrance fee policies.

The pink rows of cherry blossoms create a cave to walk through that is simply breathtaking. A favorite annual event for me as a long term New Yorker...

A great place to roam and enjoy the absolute beauty of nature. I come here often on my own during the summer and spring. I also bring my students here for an exploration of the Shakespeare Garden and it never fails to be the highlight of our Shakespeare lessons. The staff are always passionate about their work and wonderful with my students.
