To fully appreciate the enormity of the disaster this place is a must visit. They have put together an excellent exhibit for all to understand.
Visited the Ground Zero Museum/Memorial in March. Its a very popular place with good reason. The NY authorities have done a fantastic job with creating such a marvelous facility. Once you enter its a vast place with a lot of amazing remnants from that terrible day. It was very poignant for me visiting from London. The last time I had visited NY was 18 years ago and the Twin Towers were still standing, and I have a video of myself standing in front of them. There were hundreds of people vsiting when I was there but everyone was very quiet and respectful. I suggest you need 2 or 3 hours to see everything, it does bring home the horror of the event. there are many personal belongings and memories which brings everything to life. Very well done to everyone involved in putting this memorial together. A must see in NY.
To call this experience a museum does not do justice to the thought and tribute at this memorial. We were overwhelmed by the feelings during our visit to this site and to the many examples of bravery shown by new York citizens. It was an unforgettable day one that will stay with us for a long time and the four hours we spent there made a lasting impression of courage and sadness.
The visit to 911 was humbling and emotional so well done in terms of the history, construction and paying respect to those who list their lives
How do you describe this very poignant experience without being disrespectful. The sheer enormity of this historic event is captured in this very thoughtful museum.
At first when you walk in there doesn't seem to be anything there, but as you go further down it was mind blowing. There was so much to take in and was very saddened by it all.Everything 9/11 was there, the missing people posters, damaged fire trucks, shops, people's clothing that were worn on that day as well as part of the planes that hit the Twin Towers.Peoples stories, how they witness what went on or how they survived it.If you are interested in the events of 9/11 this is not to be missed. There is so much and quite a few small films that last around 4 minutes each it will take around 3 hours + if you decide to take in what's there.I would go again if I get to NYC in the near future.
This is a must see Museum. Spend 4 (short) hours inside. Very emotional place. My wife was reduced to tears while I had the biggest lump in my throat ever. You can tell by the staff expressions that they were very grateful that you took the time to go see it. One of the first things I noticed as I walked through the doors was the tissue stations. That's when I realised it was about to get emotional. The NYPD who patrol the Museum also nod to you as a thanks for visiting. We will never forget the experience ever.
I was a bit skeptical about how much there was to see - I WAS AMAZED!! The museum contains a lot of artifacts - and tells a lot of stories.
