We enjoyed the trip to Block Island via the ferry - it was very clean and it was organized with loading and unloading - would do that again.

Took the ferry on a cloudy rainy day from Ft Adams and then to Jamestown. It was nice to see the sites from the water. Jamestown is a small place to walk & shop and to get a bite to eat. I will do it again.

I brought my tour group on a lighthouse cruise and it went very well. We had great guides that were very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. We had a great time and will use them again. The only reason for not giving them five stars is because the boat was a little small for the waters.

My wife and I had a Groupon to take the lighthouse tour offered by the Jamestown and Newport Ferry Co. and it was a blast! We got to see five lighthouses around the Narragansett Bay, which is a beautiful body of water to be sailing in all by itself.Along the way we learned a great deal of history on each lighthouse and some of the houses along the coast as well. Captain Brian was a real delight, telling all of the good stories he knew of the Newport Harbor. If you have him as your captain you are in for a treat! Also in the harbor we saw a great deal of yachts, America's Cup vessels, and even a boat used in the filming of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. It was great trip that I definitely recommend to anyone wanting to see and learn more about Rhode Island lighthouses.

We did the round trip from Jamestown to Newport with a stop in Newport for lunch before returning to Jamestown. With air temps mid-70's, sunny skies and low humidity the day was a '10' on scale of 1-10, and having sold the boat we wanted to take the grandkids on the water (and not get them seasick). Can't credit the ferry company for the weather but the crew was pleasant, the ferry was clean and on time. With stops at at the Rose Island Lighthouse, Fort Adams, and 2 locations right in Newport it was a pleasant journey for all. Beats the traffic and paid parking issues in Newport (and the toll). The only potential problem was the 2 hour parking limit at the ferry dock in Jamestown. We overstayed by a couple of hours and didn't get ticketed, so I can't complain.

Enjoy a free ferry ride on the James River, in Williamsburg, VA, to Surrey. What an absolute treat to be able to be ferried across river. The Ferry also allows you to transport your vehicle with you, and upon docking, drive off and enjoy the countryside. While in Surrey you can visit forts dating back to the revolutionary war, and the famous Smithfield Ham processing center. Be sure to stroll down Main Street, camera in hand, clicking away at the old Victorian Homes that line the street. this is an event worth experiencing.

Taking the ferry avoids the expense of parking in Newport which is always difficult in the busy summer season. You have a relaxed ride, beautiful scenery and arrive hassle free. The Jamestown museum i

Park for free on the street in Jamestown, and take the ferry to Newport. You can find spots in Jamestown a few minutes walk from the ferry. Nice view on the boat. Nice narration during the trip. The water cools you down on a hot day. In most parts of the boat you will get a little sprayed by the water. The center seats and the front are probably better if you don't want any spray. The only negative is if you arrive in Newport somewhere other than Waites wharf, such as Perotti park, and get the return ferry from Waites wharf, it is really hard to find the ferry location.Waites wharf has a complex solid wharf and a complex floating dock. You go on the floating dock to the right. The only Jamestown and Newport ferry sign does not make it clear which of these you should follow to the end, the solid wharf or floating dock and there are no other signs.

Our group took a morning crossing from Jamestown Harbor to Newport. The Captain and his assistant were very friendly and accommodating. He captain told us about many of the islands, places and sights we saw on the way. It's a small ferry for pedestrians only, but very comfortable and secure feeling with life jackets easily visible on the ceiling and elsewhere. There are weekday specials on fares for teens and seniors as well as an evening special for adult round trips after 4 PM.There's no need for a car when you get to either harbor as there are many shops and eateries near both ferry landings, and small rental vehicles can be obtained in Newport for longer explorations.Note that children under 2 are free of charge but there is a charge for bicycles and strollers.

Avoid traffic and toll bridges. Great way to get to Newport, Lighthouse and Fort easily and no hassels. Price is great; crew was terrific and on time; very friendly and informative. You can see the various sailing ships closer and sometimes the America Cup yachts. Would definitely do it again

If you are in North kingstown or jamestown or don not want to wait in traffic on Newport bridge then take the ferry last year for the Jazz fest and Folk fest and St. Patrick's day parade the traffic went across Newport bridge and across Jamestown bridge so instead of waiting in traffic taker the ferry and some time when you get on Newport bridge you thin theres no traffic until you get half way up and then theres traffic that you did not see then you wish you took the Newport Jamestown ferry . They serve drinks and alcohol and for some of the big events in Newport they run more then one ferry but its first come first on they only allow a certain number of people on ferry so some time you have to wait for the next one with will be there in 45 mins they go to Rose Island, fort Adam, Perotti Park and waites wharf. Perotti Park brings you to the beginning of Thams street and Waites Wharf brings you to lower Thams street. Then at night it only goes to bowen wharf which is the middle of Thams street. It a great ride and fun.

Park in the lot in Jamestown and take the ride over to Newport.A really nice cheap ride and you save trying to look for a place to park in Newport. Then you can visit Newport and come back and visit Jamestown which also has a lot to see with great restaurants and also nice beaches and nice spots to go. I go to MqQuades Market, pick up a sandwich and dring and then picnic up at BeaverTAil which is one of the most beutiful places to picnic in the entire country. See the lighthouse, great lawns, overlook the bay and watch the boats sailing along. A place truly not to be missed no matter where you come from. this is my favorite place to just relax. If you have a blanket or chairs you will not want to leave. We go there just because it is so darn beautiful and relaxing, great for the whole family. Price, It is free, parking no problem.

My husband and I take the ferry at least once every year for visiting Newport in summer, when traffic and parking are unbearable. For $18 an adult can get on and off at any of the 5-6 stops along it's route and back to either Jamestown or Newport, wherever you departed from. The ferry itself is small, holding perhaps 30 passengers. You sit down close to the water. People with mobility issues would have trouble boarding and unboarding. Stairs and a step stool must be navigated. It is not wheelchair accessible. This is an excellent activity for those with children. You can stop and tour a lighthouse or an historic fort (Ft Adams0. You pass quite close to a number of sail boats out on the water as well as yatchs and mega yatchs at anchor in Newport Harbor. For adults there are inexpensive drinks available. The ferry allows dogs aboard.

Captain Brian and Doc Bob are a great double act, only $18 and you can get on and off at 7 points from Adams Park to Jamestown, even gave us our own guided tour round the harbour which was hilarious. Much cheaper and a lot more fun than other tour boats. A great trip and hughly recomend them......

The trip is worth the day to go explore. If staying in Newport you must get out on the water to really enjoy the beauty. Hop on the ferry, you can get on and off at all 4 stops. Go over to Jamestown for lunch and walk around that town. Plan to go to Fort Adams and walk and explore the Fort. Then see the lighthouse at Rose Island. You return back to Newport. The schedule is easy to do all 3 stops and relax.
