Some great views but manage your expectations. Parking is very limited. The beach itself is only ok. Due to boat traffic and steep drop off swimming is not recommended. Mopes are not allowed on the road leading to the beach so beware. No facilities. A better alternative is Mansion Beach or Scotch Beach

Quiet and clean, not much of a swimming beach due to the boat traffic but a non stop view of beautiful yachts. Parking is an issue as well and mopeds are banned from the road that you take to get there.

You do need a car or dinghy to get here but once you have arrived its a great place to take young kids fishing. They get to cast there polls while watching boats come in and out of the Salt pond. Lots of fun.

We took bikes towards the CG station, hoping to just enjoy the views, and stumbled upon the beach, if you find the walkway behind the CG station and mind the "RESTRICTED AREA" signs. Once on the beach, it was nice, but definitely best enjoyed if you bring your Zodiac or small boat in. It's a short beach with nice views of boats entering and exiting the Great Salt Pond's channel.

It was a nice ride on the moped to visit coast guard beach but not much to see when you get there. Thank goodness for the Del's lemonade stand at the end!

Coast Guard Beach is located at the entrance to New Harbor on the west side of the island. While it not easy to get to, it is worth the trip if you are looking for an out of the way spot to relax on the beach, have a picnic and watch the boats go by, watch the fishermen or take a few pictures. This isn't a bathing beach as it is part of the channel and there is a big and quick drop off. There is very little parking for this beach, maybe 3 or 4 spots, so you will want to get dropped of or ride a bike there. To access it by bike you would ride to New Harbor, past the Oar, the cemetery and the entrance to Champlins. The next road on the right is Champlin Road (formerly Coast Guard Road), take this right, then follow the road all the way to the end. It is a dirt road and it is more sand than dirt in some spots. Before you get to Coast Guard Beach you will pass Charlestown Beach on your left (also a great, out of the way beach with NO parking for it), then Cormorant Cove on your right. Keep going and you will se the Coast Guard Station. The path to the beach is on the left, it goes behind the garages and out to the beach. During Race Week we love to get breakfast "to go" in town, then picnic out here and watch the sailboats heading out for the races. ( You have to go early, because everyone else has the same idea and the police will ticket the cars that are not in the few legal spots)
