I was visiting my mom in Versailles for the week and we decided to go here on a Monday afternoon. A young guy was working ( I can't remember his name ), but he was really nice and my mom and I enjoyed chatting with him. He has a trip to Napa planned and so do I so we enjoyed talking about that. I bought 2 bottles of their chambourcin since I have a hard time finding that kind in restaurants and stores.

We found Wildside by accident while driving along the Blue Grass Parkway and had a great time. They have a great variety of dessert wines and fortified wines, and also have a notable bourbon barrel red (the barrels are from Woodford Reserve right down the street). Tasting room is nice but nothing special. They have a large back room that could easily accommodate a wedding party or large event.

During our week long tour of bourbon distilleries, we took a side trip to Wildside Winery. Each of us tried a flight of 6 glasses of different wines at a reasonable price. We prefer drier wines, so we stayed away from the sweeter wines. All were excellent except the Seyval Blanc. Our host, Christina Gora, was as hospitable and charming as she is gorgeous (my wife's words). We later found out that Christina is the reigning Mrs. Kentucky! We had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again.

Based on the good reviews it has received, we actually drove about twenty minutes out of our way to try Wildside Winery. Although small, it is cute on the inside with decorations and hanging lights. We arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday, and no one was there except for a table with six girls and one lady checking out at the register. My husband and I sat at the bar, and we were given a sheet of paper with the wines listed. The young guy, who I might add looked like he had been up for three days and had grime all under his nails, told us just to circle the six wines we wanted and he would be back. He gave no explanation about the different wines or what to expect. So we sat there for ten minutes while he hung out at the table of girls. There was another employee, a girl from Lexington, and she was a lot more helpful. She saw that no one was helping us, so she came over and placed two wine glasses in front of us. She said they were running low on glasses, so we should just rinse our one wine glass out between samples. She poured the first wine we had chosen, but she stood there with the next sample to pour and we felt so rushed. My husband changed his mind on one of the samples and changed it to a different wine to try. She said that was fine, but she never gave him his sixth taste! Every time they opened a bottle of wine, the two employees were helping themselves to it as well. In the middle of our sampling, the young guy raced down the hall laughing because the sink was about to overflow. The entire vibe was strange, and we just didn't feel welcomed. We arrived, waited to be helped, had our wine tastings, paid, and were out all in 25 minutes. I am hoping this was a random occurrence. I have read that the owners are lovely people and most reviews have been favorable. I am just giving an honest review of our experience.

We stopped here when we saw a sign for it off the highway while touring the Bourbon Trail. Its a small place with a number of wines to sample (the flights were fun). The staff were very friendly and warm. Enjoyable and worth stopping by.

Enjoyed wine tasting inside then bought a bottle and sat outside on the deck overlooking farmland. There were only a handful of people there (plus one cat) so it was very quiet and relaxing. The staff was very friendly.

This is an excellent winery located in rural Kentucky - rural Kentucky equals narrow roads - and one well worth the visit to. A full wine tasting of 8 wines will cost you $6.00 per person. It is well worth the charge as the samples are generous. We were able to talk with the owners and you can tell they love making and serving their wines. They were a joy to visit with. This is a winery that we will return to each time we return to the Lexington area.

We had a great wine tasting here and enjoyed some cheese and crackers along with about 8 types of wine. Of course we bought a bottle of our favorite. This winery has a fruit wine made from the paw paw which we did not get to taste. But maybe next time? We hope to go back someday.

Small family winery. Pick a table or bar stool and make your 8 selections from a list of about 20 to taste. Only $3 for the 8 tastings! Great variety and all were good. Friendly staff.

I have been to most of the central Kentucky wineries and many wineries across the country. Wildside Winery remains my "Cheers". The wine is fantastic, the owners are so hospitable, and the grounds are magnificant. You will not experience one ounce of snobiness her. The owners will leave you alone if you want or will tell you all about the varietals the offer. Wildside Winery has a must larger selection than most wineries in Central KY. The prices are very reasonable ($4 glass) and the range goes from dry reds to super sweet fruit wines (The Peach Mead is fab!). Their location is less than 15 minutes from the Lexington/Versailles end of the Bluegrass Parkway and les than 20 minutes from Keenland/Bluegrass Airport. Go check it out!!

Their wines were quite good. The experience was fun, the atmosphere enjoyable, and the setting quite pretty. We especially enjoyed visiting with the owner...she was pleasant, eager, and simply easy to be around. She made the experience relaxed and homy.We purchased several bottles to share with friends and found the pricing and selection very agreeable.

Thanks for the review. I know its hard to find the time during a wedding to fully explore all of our twenty plus wines. Many times during a wedding, a guest tries one or two at random and assumes that they represent the entire range of our offering. We do have a large selection of dry wines: Two dry white wines, Chardonnay, and our popular Seyval Blanc. Our dry red wine selection starting with the lighter body and moving up to heavier and more tannins are: Norton, Duet (blend), Chambourcin, Chambourcin Reserve, 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (quite different from '08), Black Barrel Reserve (Cab blend aged in a bourbon barrel), and Cabernet Franc. All of the above wines are fully dry with 0% residual sugar. Nine acres of our 11 acres of vines are between 8-15 years old which is not generally considered young. We do plant a few acres that are a one to 8 years old so maybe the reviewer noticed those. Thank you and I hope you can make it back to try some more of our wines.

I've been here before with my first husband. It is a very nice tasting room and now they have recently added a deck to go outside on and enjoy your newly purchased bottle.
