lexington visitors center

The staff were really helpful in listening to what I was looking for and giving recommendations. I left with a plan, a driving route, maps, and an excellent lunch stop. I visited in early March, so they also helped figure out what was open.I was driving to Bolling Green, so they sent me to Town Branch Distillery for a tour, Keenland, the Bluegrass pkwy to see horse country, Wallace Station for lunch (great deli with veggie/glutten free options), Woodford Distillery (skip that), Four Roses Distillery, and Willett Distillery. It was a great day and I got a sense for Lexington culture. The route was perfect to get me to Bolling Green.Similar to other reviewers experience, there was no parking. I double parked and ran in.

My wife and I stopped in while on the way back to Northern KY. No problem parking, there are four reserved spaces in front. Lyn was great, gave us several suggestions as to places to visit and things to do in the Lexington area. My wife and I live 90 minutes North of Lexington and over the years have been there numerous times. We thought that we had seen most of what there was to do in the area, but Lyn gave us info on a few places that we had never visited. Very nice facility and great staff.

The Visitors Center is located right on Main Street and there are four dedicated spots in front. Currently there is some construction in the building and parking is sometimes more challenging. Luckily that is temporary! There is always additional parking around the corner in the Victorian Square garage.

Answered all of our questions and Katie was especially helpful with dinner suggestions. We were able to get a map of downtown and use a few of the coupons. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Thank you!

My husband drove past this mid-block, store front style visitor's center and I jumped out while he circled the block with the car. The man in the visitor's center gave us directions to parking and a validated parking ticket for free parking for about an hour or two. VERY HELPFUL but not so much if you've already found parking and/or paid before finding the visitor's center. Once the car was parked, our family of 6 went into the visitor's center. It was a small, uninteresting place, but it had very friendly, knowledgeable attendants and a plethora of maps, information and give aways. Info. on KENTUCKY in general, historic Kentucky (Lincoln / Henry Clay), bourbon trail, etc. can be found in abundance here. Great maps, descriptions, etc. They also gave us free car stickers, postcards and bookmarks that all celebrate Kentucky. A few doors down is a cool University of Kentucky clothing and trinkets store worth stopping in for a souvenir.

The ladies working here know all about Lexington, so stop in for some good advice. We had several questions about the Bourbon Trail and what to do. They showed us on the map where to find everything.

We visited the center and got some information. We found out about a music event going on at a local winery and a fall festival going on at a small town close by. Both of which we attended

We stopped by hoping to experience some of the friendliness that other reviewers raved about; that friendliness must have taken a short break. We did find a half dozen racks of brochures and browsed those; however we were left completely to our own devices while there. We were lucky to find one of the few few parking spots available that were not being used by the workers doing nearby construction.

We went here to find out what we could do in Lexington and were greeted immediately by several women who regaled us with stories of the history of Lexington and suggestions for where to go. They gave us directions and brochures.

You'd think the address 401 West Main would be on the corner of the block but it's several doors down. There was a big contractor's truck and a large dumpster taking up the free visitor parking in front of the center. We parked two blocks away in metered parking and walked back in 19 degree weather. By that time I wasn't impressed and not too interested in navigating more traffic or parking in downtown Lexington. Pick up tourist info at the nice Welcome Centers at the state line. Very inconvenient location.

Six siblings from different areas of the country stopped at the Lexington Visitors Center to gain info for our week long vacation in Kentucky. Frances was extremely helpful and patient in answering our questions, giving advice, as well as, making phone calls to help assure we would have a worry free and even more adventuresome experience. Hats off to Frances, a wonderful ambassador to Lexington, Kentucky! Thanks!

My husband and I stopped in to get some information about the surrounding area and were met by two lovely women who gave us multiple suggestions about restaurants in the area as well as places to visit. There were a few video presentations on local shopping, the bourbon trail, and horse farms which we found interesting. It was a great stop .....

We had about 1 1/2 hours to visit in and around Lexington. We took a little drive around downtown, historic district. We found the folks at the Visitor Center to be not only very, very nice and hospitable but also very, very helpful with information about the area. We even did a little shopping while there. We will definitely plan to come back and spend a day looking around downtown Lexington. Very charming town. A MUST stop and visit!!!

My wife and I stopped in because we were having trouble finding the restaurant we were supposed to meet up with friends at. The very kind lady at the desk (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name) not only gave us great directions, but actually walked outside with us to point out the restaurant down the street.
