Rocky Mountain Eik Foundation is working for conservation of game and land. I highly recommend for every hunter to join.

The foundation endeavors to preserve habitat for the purpose of preserving elk. Some might find it odd that both hunters and conservationists help to sponsor this organization because as elk habitat is saved, myriad other creatures as well as the land itself benefit. The headquarters features taxidermy displays of elk as well as other Montana wildlife, some set is a diarama, which everyone finds fascinating. Check before you come to be sure that they're open, then enjoy it. It's free, although they welcome contributions.

It's appropriate that the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's headquarters are in Missoula. They did a nice job on this facility, well done. It's not very big, but well worth visiting. Best to spend a couple of hours there.

What a wonderful experience! The beautiful new headquarters of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation fits in perfectly with the environment. Full of thoughtfully constructed education stations, especially a life size diorama with many animals. Taxidermy throughout the displays is excellent. As a non-hunter (but not opposed to hunting), this visitor learned a lot and gained a new appreciation for the RMEF.

They have great exhibits, and the facilities are quite nice. Many examples of animals, and a lot of history. Also, exhibits of some amazing firearms.

We were passing through Missoula during our trip and decided to visit this place; great decision! The museum was great! Lot's of stuffed wild animals (bear, eagle, deer, swan, ...) and nice displays; I mean, I've never touched a skunk or seen a bear footprint before! It was lot's of fun for us and little toddler and would definitely recommend that! I should also mention that it was free, but you could donate (like $5/family)which definitely was worth it!

Lots of stuffed wildlife.Educational displays of various wildlife not just elk.Sad how we kiiled so many animals when we overtook the west.Get your picture taken with a stuffed bear.gives you an idea of how big they are.No fee so give a donation instead.

Whether you are a hunter or just enjoy nature, you will like going to the RMEF museum. Admission was free, but you can make a donation, which was a no-brainer since they do such good work. They have Elk and other animals on display and videos and short features showing their work and Elk in the wild. We thoroughly enjoyed it!

The staff inside is very helpful. There is a movie of how and where they are trying to help and save the elks. Also a wonderful display of animals. Well worth a visit.

My first visit to Montana was also my first time seeing an elk, Live! I had no idea about their size and the mass of their antlers. This is one big animal! The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation seeks to keep this majestic animal healthy and alive for all to enjoy as they are an incredible animal. The foundation is open to the public and has on display some of the most amazing examples of these animals anywhere in the world. There is so much to learn about them, their habitat, and their intelligence for many a hunter will tell you just how difficult these animals are to hunt. I learned a deep respect for Elk while I was there and after I left, that respect stayed with me. I think that is one of the very best reasons for the Elk Foundation, is what it teaches people about these animals and others. If you have not taken the time to visit the foundation, I recommend heartily that you do so. It is a great place to take children as there are all sorts of things for them to see and appreciate. Don't wait!

Expensive clothing, but for a worthwhile cause and they are different looking. Informative about the animals and their habitat.

Cool place, I was actually convinced to go here via tripadvisor which is funny. I am not from a place that has a lot of elk nor do I know anything about them, until I visited the Elk Foundation. Great place and very informative. Nice people and a great attraction to visit for anyone of all ages I would say!

This was a delightful little surprise that our friends recommended. Considering that there's no entrance fee, this lovely little place has a terrific indoor display that kept the young toddler in our group amused longer than we expected. The shaded, paved walk was perfect for me in my wheelchair, and even though we didn't see any elk, the plants, trees and creek and beautiful little deer that hung out with us made this a wonderful little break during our visit to Missoula. We loved it.
