We have taken the trolly out to the Garden District several times in the past. I highly recommend for the value and charm of experiencing a vintage trolly ride. That being said, expect some crowds, especially on the weekends. Also, they expect exact change ($1.25) A New Orleans must!

Great way to see old, established beautiful neighborhoods. We even stop at the park near Loyola University. We got off at various places and came back on the street car. The street car operator are very friendly. We bought a $3.00 al day pass. Ensure you have exact change since they do not give cash back and they do no take credit card. $1.25 for one way or a $3.00 all day pass. With the pass you can hop off and hop on at various locations and you can also use the buses.

first thing we did when we got to NOLA was jump on this trolley just to see the garden district. It only cost $125 and that was for all day. It gets very crowded near rush hour and they allow only certain amounts of people on, then tell the rest they have to wait for the next trolley. They come often..i finally got a seat and got to film the beautiful houses while enjoying the ride. I have never been on a trolley, and what i found hysterical was the at the end of the line, everyone has to get off, he takes his controls from the front of the trolley, unscrews them and puts them on the back of the trolley, walks through it and takes the backs of the seats which faced one way, and moved them so they now face the other way. then he lets everyone back on the other side, and we take it back the other way. lol. why did i find that funny i dont know. The only thing is, if you are in a rush, dont take it!! a 10 minute ride took almost an hour, but we werent pressed for time. We got hungry and jumped off, ate dinner and caught it again a block away.I liked the experience thought

The Good - It's a fun way to see the city. It's even better if you are a Senior - only 40 cents and you can even get a free transfer! The bad - We waited over 50 minutes at City Park after being at NOVA. It was about 45-50 degrees out and we were cold to say the least. It seems like schedules don't matter too much and the operators waste far too much time getting people onboard.

This is a cultural experience, not a quick transportation option. Often crowded, I would recommend taking the streetcar at a less busy time if you can. Elegant old neighborhoods on the route. Cars are antique and rather noisy. But I always try for at least one trip when I'm in town.

We took the streetcar because we were downtown and needed to get to the French Quarter. We saw the first one pass (missed it - we were walking to the stop), but the second came just a few minutes after. When they opened the door, it was SO PACKED. So if you're claustrophobic, there's no way. People are breathing on you, touching you, but everyone was cracking jokes and having a great time, so it was actually a really interesting experience. We were all tourists, of course, and as one lady said, "The locals are probably smarter and use a different mode of transportation." I'm sure she's right! Anyway, be sure to have your exact change ready, and enjoy your cuddly time with some strangers!

Much less crowded on weekdays, during the day. Use the streetcar to get to Audubon park, and find somewhere to stop for lunch along the way! (New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood for a great grapefruit daiquiri, and The Grocery for an excellent soup and sandwich!)

The street car provided a easy way to get from the Garden District to the French Quarters. It was only a couple blocks from our hotel in the Warehouse District which seem to be midway and we rode the street card for a couple of bucks to the garden district and hoped back on to go to the French quarter at Canal street. Great visit to New Orleans.

Ride this thing for fun, not to get somewhere. I waited 35 min and finally grabbed a cab. I was told that if something happens on the track they all stack up and you wait.

I enjoyed riding a number of New Orleans streetcars. I think I was reliving my old Toronto days as a child as the Charles Street cars must date back to the twenties or thirties. They were like the old ones that lasted a long time on the Kingston Road line in Toronto that connected with Queen Street. Worth the 40c for a senior's day pass. 40c I said!!!!! What a wonderful city!
