I went here back in 1990's and they have changed so very much since then. As you walk around you can see the pride in this school. They put money in keeping it up. LOVE THE DRAMA GROUP.........they are so very awesome. If you have the time you really need to see the plays they put on here. These are a great group of kids, don't know who there teacher is but that must be one heck of a teacher.

This is one of the most beautiful campuses around. There have been a lot of updates which have really changed the looks of the whole campus. The Lions den is a great attraction. It's not often you can go see a lion in a local habitat.

It has surprisingly nice architecture for a public campus, with more detailing on buildings along a small valley, making it have more of the feel of a small private college. The fountain & lions are a little extra.

This is Alabama's oldest school. It started before the civil war as a women's seminary and went through numerous name changes until it became UNA. The lion habitat is fun but they won't be there if it is game day. They travel to the stadium in a special trailer so they may help celebrate the great tradition that is southern football.It is a lovely campus with cultural activities.

The most interesting part of this campus is the "lions's den". The pair is beautifully groomed. Loved the old buildings mixed with more contemporary architecture.

We were really floored by how beautiful the campus was - much nicer than the university of Alabama in Tuscaloosa - one of the nicer small campus environments I have ever seen!

Thanks to trip advisor, my husband and I visited this beautiful college campus. We just had to see their mascots, Leo III and Una. It is a beautiful campus...I'm sure my pictures don't do it justice. We visited during the week while classes were in session, so had a hard time finding a parking spot in the visitors lot, but finally got lucky. If you are in the area, well worth a stop at this beautiful campus!!!

My wife and I were very impressed by the beauty and majesty of the part of the campus that we visited on a beautiful early August Sunday afternoon (3 Aug 2014). We entered the campus via the Harrison entrance, where the magnificent fountain and adjoining lion habitat are located. A wonderful surprise is the President's home which one can see as one walks toward the fountain. The Carroll Lion Habitat is an impressive site and features two large covered observation areas with clear glass windows that afford great views of the male (Leo III) and female (Una) lions. Surrounding campus buildings are beautiful. The nearby ROTC memorial and Student Union are very nice. This is a great place for walking and biking. The campus is adjacent to the beautiful downtown area and gorgeous historic neighborhoods. When driving through Florence on hectic US43/US 72, taking time to venture just a bit off this main route to visit this campus will yield some nice surprises. I wish we had done this on other drives through Florence! I can assure you that we will be taking time to visit this campus on future trips through Florence.

Well worth a stop to see the fountain and on-campus mascot lion cage... better than most zoos! On my first visit to Florence, kept seeing these big purple paw prints painted on the roads surrounding the campus... follow them to the main parking lots and you are there!

The university is located in the beautiful and historical part of Florence. The campus is absolutely beautiful and has the distinction of one of only a few campus' in the U.S. housing live mascots. They have a pair of healthy and very content lions in a clean facility near the center pavillion and beautiful fountain.

The tour of the campus buildings, grounds and stop to visit the lions showed that this where modern meets the past in comfortable coexistance. Manageable walking distances make this a place where you have room to spread out without need to get out.

This is a beautiful campus with many attractions. We enjoy their Theatre as well as beautiful parks with a world renowned water fountain, as nice as ones in Rome. Stop and have your picture made in front of the fountain and just a block away is the University mascot, a real Lion. He is a beauty, so don't miss him.

Been there, graduated from there, recommend there to anyone looking to further their educational background. It's large enough to accommodate but small enough to appreciate.

Let it pass. Not really anything to do. Some want UNA to move to Division IA football, but $$$ & community support not there. New campus design needs help. Does not address parking needs.

Frederick Olmstead designed the campus, grounds and buildings alike. Bibb Graves Hall has new windows that kind of stick out with the architecture. Mostly neo-Gothic. Plus there is a habitat for the two mascots, Leo III and Una, both Nubian lions. It was well designed and has been a huge attraction for local schools. The current pair are the third, as indicated by Leo's suffix.
