The South Arkansas Arboretum is pretty all four seasons. Nice for a stroll or for more serious jogging. Not the biggest or best, but decent for this size of a town.
Surrounded by a fence just off the main road, this place is a sanctuary, see all of the indigenous flowers and trees of the area and have a picnic in a large pavilion surrounded by nature's splendor.
We came here to walk and enjoy the grounds. Since we had our camera with us we decided to take some photos of the children. They turned out better than the schools so we used them as Sr pics.
Dogwoods and Azaleas were blooming and there were so many features and little bridges everywhere. Watching the little ones enjoy the paths and water features was utter contentment.
This is the kind of thing you could squeeze into a trip if it is on the way, really not worth an hour or more drive just to see it. Takes about a half hour, tops. Very small, if you're looking to get your botanical fix go to Garvan gardens in Hot Springs, that place sadly puts it to shame. It's nice though, clearly well maintained and cared for.
The arboretum was built when I was in high school and was the cool place to hang out for Seniors taking a break. I had not visited in years and was so impressed at how much TLC had been put into the gardens, to make it even more beautiful than it was. Great trails to explore, wonderful place to exercise too due to different elevations of the trails. And the new butterfly garden adds to the ambiance of solitude and tranquility. Picnic tables and benches invite you to sit a spell.
This has a nice path but it does have a few hills. The neat thing is that a lot of the trees are identified so we non-forestry types can learn. The event coming up with the EHS Jazz Band has been very enjoyable in the past. The location is handy at the corner of Timberlane at Mount Holly Road adjacent to the od high school..
The arboretum was definitely a peaceful respite, with trails that aren't too long or difficult. We walked all the trails in an hour or so. They are paved, which is a nice touch. Also, there is a bench near a lake close to the beginning of the trails, which was a gorgeous place to watch the sunset. The gazebo in the front is a perfect spot for a picnic or gathering.
Next door to the El Dorado high school with plenty of parking. Lovely plants and flowers. Wish we had seen the azaleas and camellias in bloom. There are easy walking paved trails. The restrooms were clean.
Nice entrance - little stream & waterfalls (small waterfalls - nothing big) with pretty flowers planted around. Nice place to picnic. Clean bathrooms. But when it's closing time, you better be at the gate! You will get locked in if you're not out of the arboretum at closing time! My husband and I got locked in and we had to climb the fence!!! It was pretty funny, but now we make sure we are at the gate before closing time! Very pretty, relaxing trails.
It needs to cleaned up more and have more plants. The walking trail is great for exercise. They have wonderful flowers planted in the Butterfly garden, however I do believe they could do more within the area, there is plenty of space. Maybe they could get a grant .
Very nice Arboretum with long, paved trails. We visited during there fall festival and it was very nice.
This is a really nice little secret in El Dorado! It's a good place to bring the family and just enjoy the outdoors.
