We were visiting friends in LR and were excited when we saw this trail along the Arkansas River....we started our bike ride at the north end (near the I40 parking lot/boat ramp) and enjoyed a nice 5 miles along the river and golf course....but then...the trail joins high volume roads, and had no bike lane as you approach downtown....so we turned around and rode back....never making it to downtown....to bad....the north end of this trail is awesome for riding.

This trail is great for those of you who like to run, walk, or cycle your way to fitness. It's an excellent ride for us "roaddies" too.

Ive been down the river trail several times, mostly on the south side. It's a really great place to get some exercise with a scenic backdrop. The south side runs through the suburbs and city down to the Clinton Presidential Library and the north side runs mostly through woods and against old quarry walls. Both sides are on the lake at different points, but the north side is much more scenic. The loop between the Big Dam Bridge and the Clinton Library is about 15 miles. All the pedestrian bridges light up at night!

I ran 26.2 miles along the river for the 3 bridges marathon. It was so beautiful in December. I imagine it's even more beautiful in the fall.

The Arkansas River trail is a wonderful addition to the Little Rock/North Little Rock downtown area. As a cyclists who has ridden it dozens of times I can offer the following. There are several places to park to access the trail. Downtown Little Rock; I would recommend the Clinton Library area. It is free parking and not too crowded. The base of the Little Rock side of the Big Dam Bridge also has free parking but it is not as plentiful and there are constantly break-ins out there. Downtown North Little Rock; you can park free at the Riverfront area. There is also parking at the North Little Rock side of the Big Dam Bridge but I have never parked there, only ridden by, it so I cannot comment on that area. The loop is about 13 miles. Most of the North Little Rock side is on trails or sparsely traveled streets. Unfortunately the Little Rock side requires you to “share the road” in the downtown area so do not go during the week as it can be challenging. My favorite thing to do was to get on one of the bridges, Big Dam or River Trail Bridge by the Clinton Library, just before sunrise and watch the sun come up in the river valley. It is spectacular in the fall! Some of the folks here are not the brightest so always be aware of those folks with kids or dogs who let them run free back and forth across the trail. It can really screw your day up.

The riverfront bike and pedestrian trails, highlighted by the Big Dam Bridge (ugh . . . change the name, please) and the new bridge to Two Rivers Park are among the best in the nation. Once threatened by a plan to put a vehicle bridge over Jimerson Creek, the local activists and governmental officials got some federal money, and, for once, did something really, really great when they made sure that these very special places were perpetually free of motorized vehicles. Thank you, all.We all are very lucky to have this gem in central Arkansas. If you have not been, go. You will be surprised and delighted. If you have been, go again; it will be good for you.Highly Recommended!!!!

My husband and I love to use this trail for our bike rides. Beautiful ride along side the Arkansas River any time of year. We almost always see deer , squirrels and other wildlife. The trail makes a 13 mile loop from downtown Little Rock over the Big Dam Bridge back down to downtown North Little Rock.

Hire a bike and take to the trail - it is a lovely way to visit Little Rock and take the route that follows the River. It is absolutely lovely and goes over great bridges and through some great attractions such as River Market etc.

The north shore from north little rock is beautiful, but after the big dam Bridge are now signs for the trail, all the way up to conway and back till pinnacle state park, from there trail is signed again and beautiful....

This one of the best things in Little Rock. We are really proud of our trail systems and the Big Dam Bridge. It is a beautiful walk beside the river. Lots of people out walking, running, biking, skating. A fun place to be.

We rented a tandem bicycle and rode the trail. It was a fun day while doing something healthy. The trail is amazing and very well maintained. Whether walking, running or biking, this is the place to get your exercise while seeing lovely scenery. You can easily access/exit the trail in numerous locations. The pedestrian bridges are terrific. Little Rock is a great city to visit.

It's a beautiful area with cute shops, but be aware that it's pricy, and can be very noisy in the evenings. Lots of cute bars and eateries

Ride along the river, great views and even has stations for bike repairs if needed. Travel over bridges and has spots for a picnic lunch.
