Went on a cloudy Sunday and the place was busy. Lots to choose from cooking to fiction to children's books. Even a travel section. Lots of unique gift ideas - mugs, cards, stationery, seasonal items and chocolates, etc. A fantastic used selection and bargain area. If you are in the area check it out there is something for everyone.

This place has an ecletic selection of cards, books, knick-knacks to suit everyone's personality. A local place that serves the community well with books ignings and great customer service.

The kids loved this unique store. I have been to several other book stores, but this one has a special vibe to it. The kids loved it. We made sure to buy a couple books. How could we not :).

This is just a wonderful bookstore. Great resources and lots of assistance when you need it. Wonderful selection of just about anything - and they'll get you anything they don't have in stock with ease and promptness. Fun small gifts, too.

Worth spending money here to make sure this independent book seller has a long life ahead. Wide range of books, helpful staff, places to sit and browse, signed copies, staff picks, and array of other curious items/cards/calendars sold here all make it a worthwhile experience every time I visit. (for members of nonprofits such as the Coolidge Theatre as well as teachers there are discounts)

This is the best book seller I've ever seen. Can't stay out of the place! Has everything from cards to books you can't find anywhere else. They can find anything you need.

Not only do they have a very good selection of books, but they have a wide variety of gift items, really something for everyone. I especially love the jigsaw puzzles; they carry my favorite brands. One stop shopping for the holidays and it feels great to support a local business that is getting it so right.

Staff is there to help research, answer questions, recommend a book but otherwise respects the time between a reader and her book. Don't forget to explore the used book section downstairs, and check over the upcoming author visits.Brookline Booksmith is not only a treasure in this town but for book lovers everywhere. I am a small business owner and was shocked when my husband told me his experience at your store. He was in town waiting for an appointment and went into your shop to purchase some books. With 3 books already in his hand he asked for help locating certain literature for a gift and was laughed at and denigrated. How unprofessional! He actually put the things he was going to purchase back. I can't believe how rude and unprofessional he was treated. He is a professional and loves to read. YOU LOST A LOT OF MONEY THAT DAY and customers for life.Whether it was the help or not, the owner should know about this as well as other people.Wow, just appalled!

Comfortable bookstore that I wish every community could enjoy. Yes, they know how to pick books. But more than that , it feels like a refuge from ( this visit a snowstorm) from whatever ails you. A must visit every trip to Boston.

My favorite place to go when I have nothing to do or when I need a book or gift. They don't just have books, they have lots of little things and puzzles and games. It's a treasure chest!

Brookline Booksmith is a wonderful source of good reading and unique gifts, many of which are locally sourced. It is also a fun place to bump into neighbors and friends and runs a terrific speakers series of authors. Privately owned and operated, it is truly something special.

Nice book store. We found some Christmas ornaments at half price. Also found some travel books for Tanzania which we plan to visit in a year. The staff is checking with their buyer on a purse my wife liked to see if they can get it in gray. The staff were all friendly and willing to help. Lots of books and a fun place to look around.

One of the few remaining personal independent books stores with personal service. Always a pleasure to browse and get feedback from the staff. Had the latest edition of a travel guide which was hard to locate!

This bookstore is so great. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they always have a ton of great author events, and the used book section is awesome!
