A beautiful point of interest that will likely draw some in and others won't get at all. As a photographer I loved it. I wouldn't give it five stars because it is definitely not for everyone. It's not easy to find because it's in a private part of Gloucester called Eastern Point that has signs advising people to stay out and that the private beaches are only for those living there. It's right next to the Eastern Point Yacht Club with a small granite stone parking area for just a few cars at a time.If you're looking for something "attraction" worthy this isn't the place. The attraction is simply the lighthouse and the breakwater. It's very rocky with some slippery surfaces and I would imagine very dangerous depending on where you stand. You get there and see the lighthouse.. the breakwater.. and turn around to leave. There aren't any food services, bathrooms, places for the kids to run around. There is no wheelchair ramp. This is a lovely place for someone who wants to relax alone. See the people fishing on the breakwater and watch the sunrise. Examine the amazing textures and morning skies. For the photographer this is a far more appealing sight. I went out at daybreak (been here a few times before) and walked out onto the slippery rocks. Having a morning with some lovely light and cloud formations was so lucky. It was late fall and the water splashing me along with the morning temps was quite chilly. I broke a couple pieces of equipment slipping while trying to get out to the edge of the water for my photograph. With the tide out I had to climb over some of these large smooth granite rocks to get the ocean spraying the rocks and the morning sun shining on the lighthouse. The water rose quickly so I got covered by some large splashes and feet in the water making it a much more difficult climb back as the water rose. I waited around for about an hour to get different lights, reflections and had a wonderful time where most would have been miserable. I like to think of it as... something not for everyone, just those of us who want a photo with a little more oomph. For me it was like meditation and a lesson in patience (me, being good at neither). When you can sit alone and wait.. and maybe get the shot or maybe not... but either way you learn to sit quietly and let nature do it's thing just watching the morning sky and ocean sprays.

My wife's father was the keeper at Eastern Point Light in the early 1970s, so this was a trip down memory lane for her to go back 40 years later. The light house is on a point of land in an exclusive area. There are lots of 'private' signs, but just be respectful, go slow and you will be rewarded with a view of beautiful light house and surrounding area.

Not open to view inside. Kind of disappointing but worth the visit if you are in the area just to see and wonder about the history and the ghosts that might haunt this place.

It was a little hard to find the lighthouse. The drive is beautiful, lots of mansion type homes in the neighborhood. At one point there are signs saying members, or residence only. You will have to ignore those and travel to the end of the road to get to the lighthouse. It is in a very pretty place along the shore. However, tourists are not allowed past the gated fence, since it is occupied by a family. But still awesome to see and take pictures of.

While occupied in the '70s by two families, this lighthouse is now automated. There is also a light out at the edge ofthe harbor operated by this lighthouse. Unfortunatelytourists are not allowed past the fenced enclosure.

We drove to the end of the road to see this lighthouse. You can't tour it or even walk up to it as a family still lives in the house connected to it, but the drive is beautiful and the lighthouse is lovely.

We weren't sure how to get there are first because there's a security guard posted outside the main drive. However, you just let him know where you are going, and he asks that you drive to your intended location. Large homes along the water, tight road, but worth the drive. The walk along the breakers is an easy, but long walk. Nice to sit out on the end and see all the boats coming in and out. Cost was $10 -- Audubon Site -- discount if you are a member.

What an adventure to get here. You feel like you committed a dozen misdemeanors on the way out. No trespassing, private only, yacht club members only. Signs, signs, everywhere a sign!! (LOL! Apologies to the Five Man Electrical Band). The lighthouse is fine but not something to rave about. If you miss it, no big deal. There was a German film crew on site at the time of our visit which prevented decent photos but it was still an interesting visit. The area is just beautiful.

The highlight of our day in Gloucester was walking along the breakwater! It was a beautiful view and great people watching. We didn't think it was too hard to get to, but we also used a GPS. As we read in reviews, we ignored the private signs. Parking was hard to find, but free. We probably spent a couple hours there-- not a whole day event, but definitely not a quick stop either. I wore a dress, which I would not recommend because the wind gets very strong out there!

lol had to pretend I was a yacht club member to gain access due t the private roads/drive to get to the lighthouse. The lighthouse wasn't so interesting(very small in stature) BUT walking along the peir wall and seeing the open un-obscured ocean view was well worth the finagling.

We drove by it twice do to the big Private Road sign sitting at the entrance. We opted to ignore the sign and try to find the lighthouse. We never made it. The roads twisted and the directions were so poor we got lost in this unfriendly neighborhood that clearly wants the tourists to stay away. What a shame.

Take the drive through a residential neighborhood to visit this lighthouse. Wear good shoes and walk the jetty to end. Beautiful view!

Really nice place for a walk and to take great pictures. Need to watch your step while walking there and near the water. Even though you can't get into the light house your still able to take nice pictures outside of it.

The entrance to the road leading up the lighthouse says its private but there was no security at all to say otherwise. It seems to be a hidden place that the locals enjoy fishing at. Wear some good tennis shoes as its a bit rocky and the trail the breaker is uneven. There is a small parking area that says to pay to park and take a ticket, but there was not a ticket box and the pay box looked broken, besides it was not policed at all anyway. Its a very nice place to take a stroll along the break water and get some good pictures of the lighthouse and ships. Take the time and drive over you will enjoy it as part of your adventures.

Hard to find but the view is worth the walk. Make sure you have suitable shoes for walking on the breakwater
