Fun for kids to see the cows, especially the younger ones in the barn. Its also possible to see milking I think. Icecream is yummy.

Hornstra Farms in Norwell has the best Ice cream ever. They are known for the Purple Cow which is so delicious. I highly recommend anyone in the area or on the south shore to visit this place and after you try it for the first time, you will keep coming back.

The ice cream was very creamy and portions were large. They also have a small store attached that sells milk and related items as well as local frozen specialty dinners.

Great resource for the Town. Many kids, grandkids and adults. Opportunity for the kids to see a working farm and dairy animals as they enjoy their ice cream. Excellent value for high quality food. Busy place, be careful and extra slow when parking or leaving. Lots of foot traffic, some of excited kids.

Hornstra Dairy Farms has a long history delivering milk/dairy products on Boston's South Shore, remember the glass bottles with the cream floating on top delivered to your front steps? They still do that! This summer they opened a farm store on their dairy farm in Norwell. It is open 10-8 most days and includes ice cream made fresh daily. The store is what you would expect, a full range of fresh hormone free, dairy products made on the farm along with locally sourced baked good, meats and other food products. What really makes it worth the trip is the ice cream. It is as good as you would hope. When we were there they had 14-15 flavors and the girl working, (college student, summer job) said they were adding new flavors all the time. The ice cream is rich, satisfying and some of the very best I have ever had. Their small cone is more than enough for most people. We were there in the evening so I don't know how much of the farm is available to tour during the day, but you are welcome to walk back to see the 120 or so cows grazing. The milking barn was closed but windows give a good view as does the calving barn which had 3-4 young calves, (one was only 15 days old). There were about 8-10 young families there when we visited, most hanging on to the rails watching cows and dripping ice cream on their shirts. It is a fun, happy place to visit. The farm is about a mile behind the Hanover Mall and Rt. 3 so it easy to get to. They also had plenty of parking. It is not inexpensive. The small cone was $3 and change and the gallon of whole milk is nearly $6 but wow, it is a treat! We'll be back and look forward to introducing this place to our friends and family.
