We visited in February the day before a major blizzard. The Friendship was beautiful even while docked and the view was incredible.
the ship was an excellent history lesson, the historians on the ship told about different aspects of the early shipping and dangers on this ship. lots of photo ops, clean and made you stop and think how difficult the voyages were to bring supplies to the harbor
The wharf hosts several fun shops and a few waterfront restaurants. Some shops are closed in the off-season but there's a great spice shop that's worth the (short) walk.
There are a good number of interesting and quirky shops to visit. There are also some good restaurants. Finz is very good but on the expensive side. Capt's and Victoria Station are good and less expensive. VS has a great outdoor eating area.
I toured this ship while the weather was nice this year and thought that it was lovely. The craftsmanship of the ship is stunning.
Take a walk out to the lighthouse and chill out. We stayed close to this wharf and took a walk after lunch an it was quite lovely.
Loved the Pickle shop (owner is a hoot!)! Victoria Station has a great salad bar, but not so fresh fish.
There are many stores and restaurants along the warf. They offer a great variety of products and the restaurants offer an assortment of meals, seafood and burgers.
Beautiful vantage points; however, food on the Wharf was overpriced and not tasty. Went to 3 of the locations and wasn't impressed with the offerings.
Great views of the Salem harbour area, and the old ship that is so well kept there. Sale house, and information plaques are helpful. Cold November day, so we didn't spend too much time on details.
Ringed with lovely little stores and great restaurants, it's a fabulous place to visit. In autumn, on the afternoons, the glow if it is simply magical. A great place to sit and relax.
This place was simply beautiful! The shipped parked by the dock was amazing! Who doesn't want to see a huge pirate ship. Enough said, bring the kids!
Pickering Wharf was a lovely part of our visit while in Salem. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Finz, then walked the area, popping into all the shops. Free 2 to 3 hour parking right at the wharf.
We love Derby Wharf. In fact we live right off of it and spend a lot of time walking the Derby Wharf to the lighthouse and back. Pickering Wharf is another story. The restaurants are mostly overpriced, the stores are in and out numerous times a year, and the majority of the stores are also overpriced with unhappy owners/staff. It can be obnoxious at times due to the amount of people because of stores and restaurants, and the parking is hideous at certain times of the year. We normally walk but when we have someone with us who is handicapped, we can't ever find a spot when needed. Keep to Essex St. if you're looking for fun, unique stores.
Stayed at waterfront hotel, which is literally next door, nice shops and restaurants. Very friendly vendors.
