Davidsonville is a small community, still quite rural compared to surrounding areas. Its only claim to fame is Homestead Gardens, a local plant nursery that also sells some pretty unique items. Around Christmas they have an amazing selection of trees (real and artificial), lights ornaments and village accessories.Bring the family after thanksgiving when they set up a not-to-be-missed train display.

They shoved the trains way off in a corner. They diminished the CHristmas electric scenes one can purchase in favor of the Ravens??? But the poinsettias are still fabulous.

I visited Homestead Gardens for the first time to enjoy the Fall Festival. Both the store and festival were a much bigger deal that I expected. They had individuals directing traffic in the parking lot, and there were families everywhere. The shop offered specialty coffees, apple cider, doughnuts and other goodies. The home goods were plentiful and attractive, and I'll definitely return to look around a bit more. The Fall Festival was really crowded on the Sunday we visited. There were lots of activities for kids, including a straw maze, bounce house and pillow, pony rides, pipe slide, pumpkin train, and hay ride. The pricing was a little high, but kids love this stuff, and my two year old had a fabulous time. There were lots of food options at the fest, and aside from the overcrowding, it seemed like a nice way to spend a fall weekend.

The Fall Festival, which used to be a pleasant and enjoyable afternoon diversion, has been transformed by the grasping owners of this place into a grotesque ripoff. One pays a colossal sum for an admission wristband and must then purchase dollar tickets for the handful of brief rides and amusements, most of which bored our children and toddler nearly to distraction. Nothing's only a ticket, by the way, so when you open your wallet, prepare for it to STAY open. A two-minute, $5 pony ride for a two-year old? Are you kidding? For that price, the damned pony had better recite the alphabet or cook an omelet or something. Our family paid less overall for a full day at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, which was terrific fun and packed with diverse attractions. It's a sad comment on this area that parents can find little else to do but drag their kids to this overpriced jumble of asides.

I loved this garden paradise. They have a wide variety of every plant you can think of. I needed be dragged out otherwise I would have bought everything. They have a lot more than just plants. It truly is an experience and when I need something garden, grilling, outdoor related, or indoor garden gifts, I will return.I did not find the prices too high. They are a little higher than some, but the quality of the plants are superior. They are healthy, well watered, and maintained. Also, the coffee shop in the outdoor plant area was excellent. I had to grab a cup once the smell it me. I finally stopped by after people kept asking me if I'd been and I was not disappointed.

Of course they have great plants but also a lot of garden and house decorating items. Wish I had more space I need to spruce up!

Went to purchase several annuals to fill out my shopping and found what I wanted but prices were 50% higher then other markets I shopped at the same week.

Homestead is probably one of the areas prettiest and well-maintained nurseries. They always have a good mix of exotic and local plants and always have something fun going on for family and friends of all ages. If you have kids, pet and in-laws, Homestead is totally one of those weekend stop-in places - you will be pleasantly surprised what you may find.
