cathedral of our lady of guadeloupe

The Cathedral of our Lady Guadelupe was a nice church for the locals in the town's central district. We just walked up in there because the doors were open, and it was very well kept and maintained. We appreciated the fine Catholic statues and and images of Christ and Mother Mary. While the church was open to the public, it was very inviting and we saw some locals worshiping; we respected their faith and traditions.

this cathedral in Ponce is lovely. the only issue is that it is not open during the daytime like the cathedral in Old San Juan. we could not go in to see the interior until there was a service.we went in at 6:30 but could not walk around as people were getting ready for a 7pm. service.

This cathedral is not that alluring. We came here just before mass and saw locals congregating inside. The inside is not that impressive and the art work is quite simple. I wouldn't say it is a must visit while in ponce.

Beautiful cathedral outside and inside. They offer mass as well which was just so nice to see. It was just really beautiful also in the Spanish colonial style.

My husband and I went to mass Sunday, Oct 5th. The bishop officiates the 1st Sunday of the month. We were in luck! Great service, nice selection of choir music. I thought the choir music was a recording. It was that good. A gem in Ponce, a must see.

The Virgin of Guadalupe is the Patron of the city of Ponce, same as Mexico. Though with different likeness and art style, this cathedral is located right behind the Parque de Bomba in the city's main plaza, right at the center of Ponce historic district. It was a shame I could not stay for a Mass this time.

This is my favorite cathedral of all the cathedrals on the island and one of my favorite cathedrals that I've been to. I'm not Catholic, but always search out cathedrals in the places that I visit because I find them to have interesting architecture and history.

During December this Cathedral celebrated Virgen de Guadalupe or Guadalupana Catholic Holiday. Start with a parade early morning and people gathering at the Plaza event a few days before. Las Mañanitas with Mariachi music is hearth all over the city. Mass is offer to honor her. Do not even try to drive in on that day. The city will provide transportation in and out of the downtown area.

When we arrived in Ponce in 2005 we visited this Cathedral dedicated to Our Lady of Guadeloupe. This is a well structured Building and the Altars are beautifully adorned. Worth a look.

This is beautiful inside and out. It's only open during certain hours so make sure to check that out. They were having mass so we didn't spend a ton of time inside, but it's beautiful. Plus the square surrounding it is full of action, day and night.

You must stop and see this historic landmark. It will leave you breathless. Walk on in and admire the beauty.

Noticed a post where it said the church was torn down...this is not accurate. Its where it has always been and has undergone renovations. Its a beautiful church and has lots of character. Definitely worth a visit IMHO.

This place has been torn down and unfortunately they are putting up a different church I'm it's place. Sadly go say all of the wonderful history is gone

Was so excited to go and see this church, to get there and find the doors locked. :( It is only open twice a day...morning and noon, locked in the afternoon & evening.
