Excellent permanent collection and a continual rotation of new and upcoming artists. Watch for their presentations. They also provide a great venue for new relatively unknown artists. The gift shop has a tremendous selection of works by local artisans - good spot to get those spring wedding gifts

Though I arrived too late in the day to see the gallery itself I thoroughly enjoyed the surrounding sculpture park. There are about 40 works on the grounds and all are quite interesting to see. Highly recommend stopping in and checking them out if you are visiting the area. I will definitely have to return for a chance to see the gallery.

The Macdonald Stewart Art Centre is part of the University of Guelph and houses the art collection for the university, plus touring exhibits. Its collection of Inuit and northern Canada art is quite good and a bit of a surprise for a small city such as Guelph. Overall the experience at the gallery is wortwhile for visitors and residents alike.
