I found this shop quite interesting with a very knowledgeable staff. The shop has a variety of minerals as well as jewellery.Display of items is done very tastefully. Prices also vary.

This is another hidden gem on our journey. The owner of this establishment is quite charming and full of amazing stories of rock hounding and local lore. If you want to know anything about local geology or fossils, this is the place to go.

The shop contains a wide variety of minerals from various arts of the world. Definitely a place to explore.

I had read that the place opens at 9 am and the kids were so excited to visit. Unfortunately, the person running the museum changed the hours and now doesn't open until 10 am. There are tables outside with many kids of rocks to look at but after 15 minutes, we had to leave. The children were very disappointed.

My family and I visited this shop & museum for the first time in May, 2014, and the experience was great! There are tons of rocks and minerals to look at (and purchase), and also lots of displays to read and learn from. The gentleman who owns the shop has dedicated his life's work to finding and studying these rocks and minerals, and this spot is displays some amazing work. The best part about our visit was that we got to meet the owner, who has made some very noteworthy finds. He gave us a personal tour of the shop and museum, explaining the history of the rocks and minerals on display, and telling us details about his experiences in geology. He was extremely kind, and the information he shared was absolutely fascinating! For anyone interested in learning more about local (and not so local) geography, this is truly the place!

I loved seeing their collection of fossils. They also had a very good selection of agates for the area plus a good variety from around the world.I tried all the rock shops in town and Parrsboro Rock and Mineral Shop & Museum had the most affordable offerings. They had a good supply of inexpensive items for children, but also some nicer pieces that adult collectors might like. They also had some jewelry.Staff were very helpful in showing us a variety of items I was interested in and then boxing up my selections for my trip home.

I had been here several years ago and was amazed at the amount of work that had been done .Very enjoyable experience for 56 people on bus trip .

Great place to compare what you collected on the beach to their fossils and gem stones. Good idea to go there first to have a better idea what to look for.

If you have any interest in rocks and fossils, you will LOVE this little shop! It is packed with seemingly no end of beautiful things! There are a great variety of sizes and prices of rocks and fossils. And the museum was AMAZING! The world's smallest dinosaur footprints were a huge surprise and imagine my delight when Mr. George himself took the time to show me around and talk to me about some of his finds! He even helped me to find a few special 'pieces' to bring home! I definitely want to go back!

Really enjoyed his Museum and variety of rocks and minerals, prices were not bad and the owner is very knowledgeable about the different rocks in the area. Will take my daughter there as they have some great stuff for kids to check out!

This small shop and museum on the outskirts of Parrsboro is well worth a visit. If you are fortunate enough to be at the shop when owner Eldon George is there, take the opportunity to talk with him, as his tales of rock-hounding for the past 75 years are sure to enthral.

Loved this store and museum like of a place. While visiting the area, my friend and I found out about this place and had to visit. Definitely worth a visit and cool place to learn about how just rich the area is in rock and fossils, in particular amethyst. I learned about how the smallest dinosaur fossil footprint was found here by the store's owner. Very inviting place with the store's owner and friend wanting to get to know us, even inviting us to go along on a rock hound with them. If you need a gift for someone definitely the perfect place to pick up something.

If you're a Rockhound, and if you find yourself in Nova Scotia, you should stop by the Parrsboro Rock & Mineral Shop. You can't mention Parrsboro, Nova Scotia without owner Eldon George's name coming up. Eldon's store is home to the world's smallest dinosaur footprint. It's a great little rock shop where you can purchase fossils, rocks, jewelery, souvenirs and prospector supplies, and get some information about the best places to search for gemstones, rocks and fossils. We didn't get to meet Eldon, who is in his 80's now, but we could hear his tumbler going in his workshop. Eldon makes some of the jewelery found in his shop. The lady minding the store was friendly and helpful. She sent us to Partridge Beach down by the Ottawa House Museum, to do a little rockhounding on our own. We didn't find anything there, and didn't want to drive our motorhome down the dirt road to the better picking area. In Parrsboro you will also find the Fundy Geological Museum where you can watch the paleontologist working on a dinosaur found in Wasson's Bluff. To learn more about the Minas Basin and Parrsboro on the Glooscap Trail, go to www.cnta.ns.ca
