This plaza was one of our favorites. BE sure to check out the bar/cigar store run by Oscar, a gracious host with unlimited amounts of energy and stories about Colombia.

I stayed in an apt in this area. Such a pretty area with lots of restaurants, music, great views in the middle of everything! Felt very safe too! Loved it!

PasionCartagena

I liked it. It seemed a more upper class of Cartagena resides around this area. The area is extra safe (as it is in the Wall and big hotels are in the area). At night we had dinner at steak restaurant (forgot its name) food was good but too expensive, but the atmosphere of San Diego square made it worthwhile, at least for us.

This plaza often has local dancers dancing, and there are lots of other things to see. There are fat women in local costumes selling fresh fruit salads, and the fountains are beautiful.

this was right by our hotel so we walked by here often, it's a nice like spot, pretty quaint and we felt safe there. It's cute and there's some nice little shops nearby

We had business meetings close by the plaza in the north east area of Old Town, so the restaurants there were convenient. We found out real fast they were also affordable and very good, with the food quality and price. We are there for lunch and dinner 5 out of 6 times we ate, we tried a beautiful restaurant in another area once, and we're not pleased with service. Food or price. Our favorite was a pizza joint, that had the best nachos we have ever had, it was just sooo fresh and tasty, and affordable. The plaza has many vendors selling their wares, from jewelry to hats & cloths and all kinds of art and hand created items. At night the traffic is blocked on two sides for more outside seating for the restaurants. They also gave many different street performers that entertain, and of course work for tips. We were offered Cuban cigars and paintings while we dined outside, most were not too pushy, but the occasional one would be a bit over the top. We found this to be the best middle class area of town for food and shopping. The south and east were a bit lower class and the west was the high class area with shops that are very elegant and expensive. This area is a must see on any trip to Cartagena.

although there are a lot of good restaurants allong the city, this was my favorite spot to dinner. You can find since a sandwich to a five star hotel plate.

If you want all the feel of a typical plaza in South America come here in the evening. Lots of great places to eat and you are entertained all night for free ( other than the tips you would like to give to the performers!) Great atmosphere for the family. We had a great evening.

Architecture and colors. It is a very typical part of town. The hotel Santa Teresa is worth visiting

This is another good, but not great place to check out. You will find mostly college students hanging out here with a few restaurants right there on the street or sidewalks.

LisandroVoyager

Lots to see in this area, cevicheria, the Santa Clara hotel, the university directly on the plaza. This area is a little less brash and touristy being out of the old town's core area.

This is a pretty enough little square, but 5 minutes is more than enough to take in its charms. It's interesting to watch life going by as you sip a cocktail from El Balcon.

It's just a small open area with a few vendors selling stuff. Not much to see and no action. People just sitting around. I watched the "action" from a 2nd story balcony for a few hours while having dinner and a few beers. I guess if you like to people-watch and observe the interaction between vendors and tourists then it might be your thing. I found vendor prices to be on the high side.

quiet peaceful place in the Walled Center of Cartagena, which is really the only pleasant place to stay. Nice rooms, breakfast with a home-feeling touch. can't think of a better place

A square, not much to see unless you go into one of the bars that has a balcony to the street. Stop, take a picture, look around and keep going.
