In our last trip to this wonderful wine village, we tasted several wines in a day. This place was one of the three places we dropped in. Outdoor drinking corner was already full, so we went down inside. We ordered just a glass of wine to relax ourselves after walking in the small but wonderful area. Stift Duernstein was also nice with the "Wedgewood" coloring tower, but it is not listed in TripAdisor. Why? The collection inside of the abbey was not bad.

On a Danube River cruise this is one of our stops. It is a very quaint village with vineyards terraced up the hills. Lots of local stores etc. there was even a maypole in the center of the city. We did not have a lot of time but did get to tour the beautiful blue church. Saw the cutest little girl on the playground with a fabulous backdrop. There is no fee for the city but there is a small fee to enter the church and the chateau.

When we passed this place, we liked its outdoor sitting. Very pleasant and non-smoking.So we decided to have lunch there. The service was okay. The outdoor sitting is very good for people watching because it is at the corner of the main street. However, the food is terrible.I would suggest to have drink there only and watch people walking by instead of having lunch or any food over there.

This is a small and I mean small town surrounded by vineyards there are old homes which line the cobblestone streets. There is a beautiful church which is a lovely color of blue and small shops with wine tasting and local crafts. this area is known for apricots so many of the jams, bakery items, and brandy are of that flavor. We were on a Viking River Cruise and this was one of our stops. Unless you are hiking to the castle there is no need to spend and entire day here but it is worth a stop.

This is a lovely little town to visit with narrow cobble stone alleys. Plenty of good local wines to taste with a number of free tastings. Good small shops offering a wide selection of goods at reasonable prices

Good local wines and Austrian dishes make this a good place to visit for lunch after the climb to the nearby castle. The food was very tasty and the waiter helpful over the menu.(I only found reference to this place under 'nightlife', but it's proper place belongs under restaurants.)

This is a family staffed place on the main street in Dürnstein. In summer a nice outdoor garden in front for enjoying a glass of wine or some good food. Inside you find the Altes Press - the old wine press- this from the 1700s - it is said to be installed before the building was erected and you will see the large size , especially sitting in one of the tables beneath it. Local austrian specialties - look for daily specials on the chalk board just outside the door. Fine selection of wine from the vineyards nearby. A favorite place for bikers traveling along the Danube bike path. Places to park your bike nearby - a standing place outside using an old wine keg as a table. Many eat here and then go across the street to the Schmidl Bakery for some fresh , warm bread to take on their journey
