After spending hours walking around Versailles we decided to walk around Marie Antoinettes beautiful gardens. The Temple of Love is perfectly situated and the whole area just oozes history. It was the perfect spot to propose to my girlfriend and luckily she said yes......I highly recommend the Versailles experience (although the queues can be a little off putting)

It's worth a short look on your way between the Hamlet and the Petit Trianon. Small and certainly not worth a special trip

Its beautiful , luckily the weather was good when we visited, it can be freezing outside. The birds are beautiful as well.

The temple is a nice stop to sit down on your way around the Trianons and the Hamlet, but is not even the best gazebo at Versailles. Stop to see it if your going past it, but don't go out of your way.

This ornamental neo-classical Roman temple contains a statue of Cupid creating a bow from Hercules's club. In contrast to the grand but stuffily symmetrical gardens of the palace which Marie Antoinette was said to dislike, the English Gardens that the temple stands in appear manicured in a more natural style. The temple's position was designed to be seen from the queen's bedroom window in the Petit Trianon not far away. Indeed, the entire Queen's Estate was very much a manifestation of Marie Antoinette's desire to be away from main chateau Just goes to show that too much grandeur can prove to be just that after a while, i.e., too much.

This is a lovely little structure that was probably built as a token of love for a birthday or something is just is so in keeping with how big everything is here

This is a lovely but kind of sad spot in the English Garden at Versailles. It took many years for Marie and Louis to forge their relationship together. This structure is a reminder of a very young woman's wish for love and romance amid all the fabulous beauty of Versailles.

It was a beautiful building on a small island accessed by a charming wooden bridge. Learned that the marble sculpting was all first rate and considered to be the tops! The original cupid drawing his bow in the temple is now in the louvre, but the replacement is a fine one done by an 18th century sculptor of note.

When you buy the ticket that includes Marie Antoinette's palace and trianon gardens, there will be a set of places to visit; grand trianon, petit trianon, la ferme, .. and temple of love. Temple of love is a peaceful quiet place to relax at, with nice architecture, gardens, flowers, canals. Enjoy it.

This classical temple with a central sculpture has beautiful views of the Grand Trianon and park area. It was a good place to rest after walking and being around many other people.

Unexpected treat just behind the Petit Trianon. Nice, relaxing garden area, with small canals on both sides. Sit and enjoy.

If you have purchased an entry fee for the Petit Trianon (Marie Antoinette's small palace) then you will find the Temple of Love. It is located in the extensive gardens which are part of the Petit Trianon (and not to be confused with the Grand Trianon). If you want to skip the Chateau and visit the Petit Trianon you can buy a separate entry for 10 euros, otherwise the combined areas are 18 euros. The Temple is a great photo opportunity and is just one of many photo opportunities in the gardens which surround the Petit Trianon including the Grotto, Belvedere, farm and the many Swiss style houses which were added in the 1700s.

So many things to see at Versailles, it is incredible. This "gazebo" is close to the petit Trianon and seemingly away from the main tourist area. (One never really knows because the grounds are so large and visitors could be scattered throughout and not visible to others). The Temple of Love appeared to suggest serenity and peace to me and I was happy to have seen it. It is a long way to walk to get there (from the Chateau) so I'd suggest you combine the visit with another area of interest - petit Trianon or something else - check the site map - as Versailles is so large it's best to plan out what you intend to do and when.
