We had a wonderful evening watching the Reno Rodeo. The little kids that rode the sheep bare back were hysterical...and the gals that did the barrel racing was lots of fun. The bronc riders are most amazing and from our seats (bought at the event) we saw everything. Be careful where you sit as the early evening sun and wind can be brutal! Great fun for the whole family...with rides and carnival food too...not cheap, but enjoyed the event.

Anyone visiting the Reno-Tahoe area the last two weeks in June each year should take time to visit the Rodeo Fair Grounds and attend one (or more) of the rodeo performances. This fourth largest rodeo in the U.S. is billed as the Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West but it could also be billed with many other superlatives. Yes, there is a carnival on the grounds and a myriad of food stalls and vendors selling anything and everything with a western flair. But the real star is the rodeo itself.Tickets run from about $12 to $28 for the approximately 7500 seat arena, but the good news is there are really no bad seats. Everyone has a clear, fairly close view of the action and two large LED screens show replays of all the action. The rodeo is very well choreographed and the 2 1/2 duration will go very fast.Interspersed with all the standard events...bareback riding, saddle broncs, team roping, barrel racing, etc..are several novelty performances such as mutton busting for the kids, Percheron horses, clown acts and more. The evening ends with everyones' favorite bull riding. Lots of excitement...lots of laughs. This is a part of Americana not to be missed along with a big dose of patriotism. As a side note, this 10 day long event is managed by only 3 paid employees with the bulk of the work done by approximately 500 volunteers from the local area. And, all proceeds go to the Reno Rodeo Foundation which supports Nevada disadvantaged kids throughout the year.Enjoy it if you can!

Once again I remember the reason why I like rodeo. It is a trip back to our western roots when cattle was king and the US was still young and the Reno Rodeo delivers. The talent is excellent and the organizers do a great job of putting it on. There is a carny for the young, and the young at heart. Shopping for those who want tack and western gear. A food court, and enough beer to float a battleship. If you and to make a trip to Reno and get a taste for the Old West, do it during the Rodeo and you will not be disappointed.

Great rodeo. There is still a little bit of the American Spirit still alive at this event. There is fun for the whole family here.

We enjoyed this place a lot. Lots of action and memoralbela. This is a definatley must see in Reno. Can't say much else, as gambling was not that great for us. The food was excellent.

This is a must see event. If you're a rodeo fan or not, watching the cattle driven down the streets of Reno is a once a year treat! This marks the beginning of the Rodeo every year.

I take part of the parade with the Kerak Shriners in my Tin Lizzy mini car, always fun to see the smiling faces of everyone young and old :)

This is a once in a lifetime experience. If someone does not go on the drive one could always wait until the cattle drive makes its destination through Reno. Almost more cowpokes then cows but the finale though the streets is worth it. Also keeps the street sweeper busy afterwards.

I do not like the fake environment by all the people that pretend to be cowboys for a day, but I do like the way the women fill out those wrangler jeans. Over all it is a fun time for people of all walks.

I had the most wonderful time. The organisers thought of everything. There were showers, a bar and the food was outstanding. I can understand why people go there every year. I suggest you stay at the pepermill hotel for the two days before the start of the drive as there are events laid on before and after the end of the drive.

If you are lucky enough to be near Reno for the annual rodeo you must go. We went on Friday and had a great time, all you would expect of a rodeo, brilliantly executed and topped off with a motorbike show as a finale. Great fun.

The Reno Rodeo is a blast for people of all ages. There is bull riding, wrangling, riding, etc. as well as a full carnival and all sorts of food and beverages. There is even a firework show towards the end. Cowboy hats are not requried, but are highly encouraged.

If you have not been to a Rodeo, this one is fun, relaxed and All American. Very patriotic with good local people enjoying a summer night.

It is just a lot of fun. Rarely, does the West live up to what most people think of, when they think of the Wild West. The Cattle Drive is an example of how the West was won.

I signed up with my 18 year old niece as she just graduated and I wanted her to have a memorable milestone before college. The trip was truly amazing and started with a gunfight in Doyle then off to the first campsite. We stayed in our bedrolls and shared a tent. After pitching our tents we checked out the horses and rode a bit. Saw three rattlesnakes that appeared non-threatening..I was assigned Blaze, a horse that had spirit and stepped out. Blaze I later discovered was a real cow horse and enjoyed nipping the tails of slow steers.....perfect. Jett however was a bit on the slow side. We were assigned to Teal Team and bonded with our teammates during the cow-boy and cow-chip olympics. Our evenings were spent out under the moonlight and stars..Nv has beautiful sunsets and we wern't dissapointed. Real roughing it camping and pack up your own stuff. Dont overpack and if your afraid of getting dirty and dusty dont come. Lots of traveling toilets and a portable washing sink. The food was gourmet western style and abundant..Home made dutch oven biscuits and healthy option for those health minded. The traveling saloon was also a high point after a long day on the dusty trail. Wranglers were knowledgable and entertaining. My niece learned the value of tent ettiquette. " The tent gets packed up before breakfast and cleaned before dinner".. Elizabeth wrote and recited a poem she wrote about the west during talent night . The next day we rode our last last ride into the Reno Rodeo stadium...we were both a bit sad as we would both miss Blaze, Jett and those cattle calls.
