This is a cozy little museum and we saw it, first, on the outside as Aptos Visitor Center. It is right up the hill from the state beach and across the street from the Best Western Seacliff Inn. It was a rainy day for us and we were staying at the hotel so it was a 'no-brainer'. There are nice collections of those items one may have used hundreds of years back, whether by the local native tribes or subsequent settlers. There is a little something for everyone, meaning regardless of age, gender or nationality, one can find something of interest. Quiet, clean, smells nice! It is free however we left a small donation. I would recommend carefully monitoring small children here, if you take them. I would not suggest this as a destination for under 3 or 4 years of age unless they are truly interested and have learned to be calm.

You gotta check this one out - lots of lore and stories about gangsters hiding out in the hills, before roads were so good. Several haunted houses and some ghostly tales.Uplifting story from early pioneers to modernest movement

When the fog rolls in to dampen your beach stay, try a visit to this museum. Within walking distance of Seacliff Beach State Park, this little museum has lots to entertain young & old. Located across from the Tourist Office (they open it), the hours are quite accommodating. Find out about the Ohlone people, the Chinese fishermen, & the pioneers who first saw this pristine area as a vacation destination. There is a donation box.
