We visited this morning and there were school kids there learning what life was like in the 1870's. The docents were full of history and information. There are lots of things to see, but unfortunately, the upstairs was closed to visitors. We plan to go back soon.

THe Bernhard house is filled with many beautiful artifacts. My favorite room is the fully set dining room table. The original kitchen doesn't look like our modern kitchens of today. The Living History Program brings the parents and children back to the 1890's. Cooking is quite a challenge for the modern day chef. It is beautifully decorated for Christmas. The museum is free to the public

My favorite of the museums. It was once stagecoach stop then became a winery and private home. Lots of old carriages and wagons to see include a still function horse drawn hearse.

I have enjoyed visiting the Bernhard Museum several times. It is an excellent example of what life in the Gold Country was "back in the day" for people with a good income. The exhibits inside the home are interesting. There are often activities for all ages. I suggest calling ahead or looking on line if you can.

A nice little place - would not travel just to go there, but if in town might as well stop by

This was definitely worth visiting. They have a guide that walks you through the house and explains all of the history there. It really makes it come alive. Better than walking through and reading signs. The guides are dressed in the costume of the time. There is no charge at all. There is just a jar for donations. Also, there is a winery on the grounds. They actually gave us free samples of wine. Don't miss this if you are in Auburn, CA.
