Stehekin is wonderful from the shuttle busses to the lodge. Lots to do with the hiking, kayaking, fishing and exploring.

After over thirty years, I decided to take a trip up lake Chelan to the village of Stehekin...oh, why not make it a visit of a couple of days!! Off the grid, secluded in the mountains and only able to arrive by boat, plane or your own two feet, I was a bit concerned, but once there...well, the stress and responsibilities just washed off my back. Sat on the deck mesmerized by the mountains formed by glaciers, rode bikes and took off roads to magnificent vista's and hiked the trails to smell the scent of fresh air! Lucky to have so many PCT hikers in town to share their stories and make us long to get back into hiking. Just a great few days...off the grid...who cares?

We took the express ferry first thing in the morning expecting to get a couple of hikes in before the afternoon ferry departed. There isn't enough time! We were able to hike about 3 miles from the ferry have lunch then return. The place is beautiful but you should stay overnight if you want to hike. This place was beautiful!!!!

Views, hikes - especially the North Shore hike, swimming in the icy clear water!, fishing for landlocked salmon (and eating one!), ambience of the Lodge, organic garden and bakery up the road (2 miles), friendly personnel and interns at the Interpretive Center.

Stehekin is a remote area of Lake Chelan. Great for hiking and backpacking. It's a small community with awesome people. Take the Lady of the Lake and enjoy the ride. Once in Stehekin, rent a bike to pedal to Rainbow Falls and, of course, to stop at the bakery a couple of miles in. So relaxing and breathtaking.

This was my second trip to the landing and it was as amazing as the first. We took the quick boat up and stayed at the lodge for two nights. The staff was amazingly friendly and we have many times we went to the lobby to rent boats or for snacks. We really enjoyed our 3 days at the head of the lake. It was an excellent location to be off the grid!

After a long boat ride we arrived at Stehekin. What a beautiful place. The Lodge people greeted us coming off the boat and were very helpful. Lunch at the lodge was good, we enjoyed the special of the day, a bowl of fresh soup and a delicious sandwich. The staff was so helpful for any of our requests. The deck was a great place to sit and take in the lake and surrounding mountains, ths sun was warm and we did not want to leave. The walk to the Golden West visitor center was informative and well worth it. I don't know if I can say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay but I will be telling my friends to take the trip, I know we will again.

This place is beautiful if you can stand the long boat ride to get there, It's very secluded and there are many things to explore. Great day trip to get away from it all. You can grab some food and relax or you can head off on trails into the surrounding woods.

At the end of 50 mile long Lake Chelan, lies beautiful Stehekin, Washington home to about 95 full time residents. The only access is by ferry, seaplane or on foot. Enjoy the leisurely Lady of the Lake II or speed along on the Lady express boat, but enjoy the wonderful changing landscape. Part of the Lake Chelan Recreational area, Stehekin offers wonderful hikes, access to the Pacific Crest Trail, trail rides at the Stehekin Valley Ranch, fishing and canoeing. Walk up valley approximately 2+ miles to the fantastic Stehekin Pastry Co., a not to be missed experience. Every couple of hours a shuttle runs up the valley about 11 miles dropping off and picking up hikers. Rainbow Falls, the old Stehekin School, and Buchner Ranch all worth a visit. For those only able to spend a day, arrive on the Lady Express and return on the Lady of the Lake II . A shuttle meets the ferry to take visitors for a visit to Rainbow Falls. What a great place to spend a couple of days of peaceful, beautiful walks and hikes. Good food at the Stehekin Valley Ranch and the North Cascades Lodge. Small store has limited items. During the summer season, rangers present interesting evening talks a visitor's center. This area is seasonal, Check the website for additional information before visiting. Rooms at the North Cascade Lodge were very comfortable.

Room very clean and well stocked. Kitchen will have everything that you need. Big fridge. We cooked our food in the room and ate out on the deck. Beautiful !

good food, easy going pace, great weather, superb hiking, bring your own food, except baked goods and fresh veggies, they have great stuff.

Very peaceful place with great food and lots of trails to hike on or take the bus to the end of the road for a trip.

Stehekin is accessed by boat or plane. If you buy your ferry tickets from Fields Point Landing they are less expensive and cuts the 50 mile journey by almost 1/2. It is also a pretty safe place to park your car as the lot is lock at night and over seen by the Parks dept. during the day. Most of the natural scenery is from the Landing on up anyway. You can sit outside on the open deck of the boat or there is inside seating too. They serve snacks on the boat but most regulars riders bring their own with no problem. I suggest a small cooler if it's a day trip or a large cooler if staying one or more nights. There is no extra charge for "supplies" and seems to be no limit on what how much the boat will take--with common sence. There is not much of a slection at the grocery store in Stehekin and to be honest the food at the Landing resturant leaves much to be desired. If it's a day trip you will only have a short time in Stehekin and the resturant may be packed with other day trippers for your time there. At the boat landing, the Parks dept. offers a bus ride to Rainbow Falls (not sure the price) but this trip will even leave you with less time to eat. Remember the on the boat ride if you sit outside you'll fry in the summer and freeze in the spring and fall. Which may make you appreciate leaving from Fields Point and a shorter boat trip.

A place back in time - life without tv, telephone & radio is very peaceful at Stehekin Landing Resort. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and all the staff very friendly and helpful. Actually, everyone in Stehekin was friendly. The restaurant (only one at the Landing Resort) was exceptional. We had a total of 9 dinners and each one was delicious. You can only reach Stehekin by boat (3 hours) or sea plane (25 minutes) - well worth the effort to venture so far up Lake Chelan. Suggest booking a room, in advance, at least overnight to enjoy the area. Some people go to and from Stehekin in one day - but after all that travel it is well worth it to enjoy the beauty of the area.
