For no larger the airport, they always have a nice air show. This last year they had a 'cruse in' with some classic autos. If you drive from a distance, you might be disappointed but we have always appreciated the pilots who spend the money to come to our area.

I'm not a huge aviation fan but I did enjoy the museum. All the exhibits are clearly labeled and offer a lot of interesting information. My only complaint is they were setting up for a WWII dance party in the second hangar and you had to walk around tables and chairs to see the exhibits and it appeared they had pushed the planes closer together to make room for the tables. The lady that sold us the tickets was very nice and couldn't wait to show us pictures of a previous party where everyone dressed up in WWII garb (I bet the music would even get my toes tapping). I think anyone would enjoy this museum. They do have special events so be sure to check their website.

The curator was so very friendly and informative, it was like chatting with an old friend. Even if you're not an aviation buff/expert, you'll enjoy the museum and hall of fame because all exhibits are clearly displayed and described. Most, if not all, of the aircraft at the museum are flyable and the fly-ins held at various times throughout the year allow visitors to witness history as such treasures as WW2-era P-51 Mustangs go through their paces. Youngsters will enjoy the museum as much as we older folks did.

Off of Hwy 49, just outside of Asheboro NC, is a hidden treasure to be sure ! My husband and I discovered this attraction last week on a trip to the coast. We couldn't have been more surprised at what we found ! Two airplane hangars full of aircraft history and displays of artifacts related to aviation history in NC. My husband-who is a military collector-was blown away by the sheer volume of information and displays available to be seen. I hope the word will spread regarding this jewel tucked away in the Asheboro countryside!

We stop there and a surprise as we drop by. It was a great collection the kids learned a lot and its place we may actually plan to go back to next time we are in the Area.

My family and I visited this small museum on Good Friday before Easter. There are two airplane hangers filled with static aircraft displays, airplane models, uniform displays, and much more. We could have stayed for a least two or three hours if we tried to read and see everything.

A MUST for any aviation buff! You will see atrcraft from various periods and ALL are flyable. The exhibits are well maintained and very accessable to visitors. The museum staff is friendly and always ready to talk airplanes of all kind. The gift shop offeres not only model aircraft, but clothing and other items as well. There is a very modest admission fee charged, all of wihich goes to the upkeep of the exhibits and grounds. They even have an aircraft that was actually flown by Orville Wright himself on display and it too is flyable.Located on the Asheboro Airport it offers the perfect getaway for buffs. Takes anywhere from 2-3 hours depending on your interest and understanding of aircraft and their times.Great destination for kids of all ages.

I have driven by the sign for this place for years on NC 49 west of Asheboro, but never stopped until yesterday, while out rambling after atrip to the NC Zoo with my nine year old daughter. We were the only ones there when we arrived, altho' some other folks did arrive soon after. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the hour or so we spent there, examining various small aircraft and models of larger ones, plus numerous displays of historical artifacts and military relics housed in two small airplane hangars. The museum sits beside the Asheboro airport, The high point for my daughter was being able to climb into a Cessna trainer and work the controls. It's a good way to spend an hour or so on the way to or from the Zoo.

Wow!, If you are an aviation buff or associated with aircraft in any way, then you must see this museum. Located at the Asheboro, NC airport it houses many vintage aircraft and displays. Some even associated with the Wright Brothers. You must take time to browse its contents and then stop at the gift shop for a gift to remember.

This was well worth the bit of a drive from Asheboro. Several amazing exhibits of war planes and hands-on displays. Very well maintained and friendly staff.

This museum consists of 2 large hangars with many great vintage planes & jeeps and a lot of history in the form of display cases & old newspapers hanging on walls. I went with my 16 year old daughter & we were only there for about 1/2 hour - we love museums but we are not the "reading" type. If you are really into aviation and history about the wars & planes used during those times, then this museum is perfect for you & if you were to read everything, you'd probably need a couple hours. Even though we went through it quickly, we both were really glad we went. The planes were very cool to see, especially looking inside of them & there were some really interesting display cases.
