The other Tripadvisor reviews are correct in their assessment. You can spend up to 2 hours in the house if you want, but unless you are use the divining rods and ghost hunt, 5 minutes is about it. First of all I am amazed this house is not condemned as a health hazzard, the mold smell was the first thing you notice in the building. The building looked like it could use some maintenance as well. One of the host suggested only going down one at a time in the basement because "she did not trust the stairs." (Lovely). Stairs going up stairs were not very wide and you had to be very careful going up and down those. Furniture is mixed bag of 1980s and other nondescript (not historic) items. The "hosts" two of them gave very little information about the house and there were some signage around a little bit of information.

This trolley tour is actually a bus with wooden trolley seats and glass windows. Visibility is limited, seating is cramped and the bus is swelteringly hot in July. Our guide alternated playing a broken podcast narration of the town's haunted houses and doing bad Larry the Cable Guy jokes. The tour cost $13 and lasted 1 hour. Atchison has gorgeous old homes and lots of fascinating stories. If the haunted tour would invest in an open-air trolley for summer and a guide with excellent storytelling skills, the $13 would be worth it!

I'm a big fan of paranormal investigations and was excited about visiting. My expectations were within reason - I simply wanted to visit the house and learn more about what had happened. Upon arrival, we watched a video - a really horrible, poorly done production. A high school student doing service hours (with no real background on the haunting) told us we could wander around. No one really knew much about the story of Sallie.... and the signs were one-two sentences. Don't be fooled by the "every two hour" tour schedule.... it will take you all of five minutes to walk through the house. This was a money-making scam.If you visit, be sure to do the paranormal investigation. It seems that with some guidance and background from someone who knows the story and has experience, it could be an interesting experience.

We did the trolley tour early afternoon and then signed up to do the paranormal investigation at the Sallie House,it was awesome we got to learn how to use the equipment then did our investigation on the house, we saw a young male in our tour had a worm go down his back and was scrached that caused his arm to bled, we heard voices in the basement also, this was as much fun as any thing we did in Las Vegas, the Cirque du solile of Paranormal, go do this if your not a wuss !!!

Well, I made the reservations several weeks in advance, tickets were $10.00 per person and they give you a two hour window. I assumed, (my mistake) that it would take two hours to walk through this "haunted" house." It actually takes about 15 mins. and that is if you move SLOWLY! The house is a small two story structure, not as old as numerous houses in the area....and smells like MOLD. (Think they might have a BAD water problem!) Nevertheless, we were greeted on the porch but that is pretty much all the interaction you'll find....there is a lady sitting on the couch, playing a video of the house and stuff taped on the wall saying things about the house. Although, this house is SUPPOSE to be the most haunted house around...the neighbor said he really hadn't experienced anything strange...like seeing people in the windows, etc. With that said, one lady from another place said she saw the man and the kids with scratches when they went to the hospital. There are many things written about this house but it is just a run down shell of a house...

First, it wasn't clear from the outside of the home you needed tickets to enter. Having a sign would be helpful for others to direct them to the chamber for tickets. When we came back, we werent sure what to do, so walked around for about 4 minutes then left. Not worth the admission.

Atchison, KS, is called the Most Haunted Town in Highland and in September and October they really make the most of it. I titled this The Sallie House because the Trolly Tour was not specifically listed and the Sallie House is on the tour, as well as many, many more homes, businesses and a park. For years I've said I was going on the tour and I finally made it. The Trolly looks like an old-time wooden Trolly and the driver and host are knowledgeable and entertaining. Part of the tour is played on a tape and that really didn't distract as much as I thought it would. I would recommend this for entertainment purposes only, but for all ages.

It was crazy busy on the Saturday in October that we were there. It was hard to buy into the whole super normal experience while bumping into people. Tickets to the Sallie House myst be purchased in advance from the Atchison Chamber of Commerce.
