One of the great "hidden gems" of Gettysburg. Ronn Palm has assembled a fabulous collection of Civil War era photographs -- mostly portraiture. Well worth the time and money (very cheap!) to go see. Highly recommended!
My son and I wandered in at about 7:00 PM, not really sure what to expect and were completely impressed. While the photos of the civil war soldiers were great, it was the owner that made the visit a highlight of our trip. This gentleman took a good hour to talk to us both about everything and shared his passion in ways that both adults and kids could enjoy. He was approachable, generous, and kind.A true gentleman that made history come alive. Thanks for the fantastic visit! We'll be back.
Could have spent all day looking at all those pictures. Owner was very friendly and was happy to answer any questions asked. The amount of photos of civil war soldiers was mind blowing.
Ronn has an extensive collection of old photos dating back from the civil war. The cool this is most of them are labeled with the person's name and rank in the civil war. He also sells old photos. Definitely worth checking out.
This was very interesting looking at all the photos and paraphenelia. Talking with the gentleman in the museum was very interesting and knowledgeable.
Although it is primarily a Bucktail's museum, Ronn's collection spans many Pennsylvania Regiments. You have the opportunity to look those brave men in the eye, its a wonderful experience with many artifacts belonging to several of the soldiers featured. Ronn stays open late on the weekends while many other places are closed, take time to visit, ask questions and I promise you will want to come back for more and also recommend to your friends. The cases in the front of museum contain many images for sale, as well as other items for sale like some good books, bullets and other items. All in all a worthwhile visit for all the family. Currently admission is free with request for donations, this is a private museum, please support well.
Great attraction in Gettysburg. Really gives you an idea of what soldiers in the era looked like. Ronn is a great guy and terrific host. As a fan of the Bucktails, I was really impressed with the large selection of photographs showing the boys with the tails! Very nice place and great owner!
This small Baltimore St. museum is what it claims to be, hundreds and hundreds of images and photos of various civil war figures from all walks of life. Certainly worth a stop, the staff is friendly and does a great job with any questions.
Not really sure when we went in here what we'd find. The guys went in while the ladies were shopping and then we followed. We were pleasantly surprised. It is a nicely curated private collection of photos of soldiers, mostly from Pennsylvania, who served in the war. There are some artifacts as well. It humanizes what sometimes seems to be just statistics. It's free but give him a donation as thanks for sharing his collection.
A great place to visit. So much to see. Ron is very knowlegeable and his collection is amazing. Do not miss a chance to visit this museum and see that faces and hear the stories of those that fought the war.
Ronn Palm's Museum of Civil War Images is a must-see if you're visiting Gettysburg. Ronn has carefully and professionally curated his renowned collection of Civil War photography into a moving display focused on the soldiers who served with several Pennsylvania regiments. Seeing the actual "faces of war" in Ronn's museum stands in moving contrast to the stone sentinels that dot the battlefield itself. It's also a great primer on the arms and equipage of the common fighting man. While you could tour the entire display pretty quickly, I reccomend you take your time and chat with Ronn, who is incredibly knowledgable and friendly. Civil War photography is now prominently featured at places like the Library of Congress and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but the best collection in the country might be right under your nose in Gettysburg! Be sure to check the hours of operation carefully prior to a visit, because availability is limited. Highly reccomended.
Wonderful museum! Ron is a great guy and has excellent stories and a wealth of knowledge about the civil war. The museum is his private collection! He has alot of passion and his collection is a great contribution to the Gettysburg experience. Go Bucktails!!
What an amazing collection! The owner is a very kind and knowledgable man, and his love of civil war history is contagious. You get a sense of the real human cost of freedom as you see the faces in these photos. Most photos have names and specifics about each solider. A must see! Take my advice, skip the ghost tours and the t-shirt shops and go talk to Ron about his photos. You'll be glad you did!
Grand collection of moving pictures from the Civil War era. Ron is a wealth of knowledge and a genuinely nice guy. If you stop in to see his collection, you'll be mesmerized. He also brings up something that we never thought of, researching the possibility that you may have had relatives participate in the Civil War.
