My family and I have been to so many concerts here over the years. It's probably our favorite concert venue. The view from any of the seats are amazing, and being in the pit is even better. The lawn isn't a favorite of mine, but my kids seem to enjoy it. My daughter sees DMB both days that they come here every year, and it's her favorite days of the year. We've all had amazing experiences here. The staff is always really nice and helpful. Parking is good, too. There's a free dirt parking lot a little ways away if you don't mind walking a little bit. I really recommend this venue for any music lover.
We just saw Chicago and REO Speedwagon here last Friday and the concert was amazing! We had lawn seats and there was enough room so that not everyone was on top of one another. The parking locations were good and the entrance "inspection" was pain-free. Tjey don't really rummage through your purse and my boyfriend got patted down a bit but I didn't, They sell beer, drinks, etc along with other snacks inside and the prices are sky high which is usual for any of these venues. You can tailgate before the show if you want so you don't have to buy anything there. Bathrooms were busy but clean and overall we would definitely go back. Beautiful night filled with beautiful music!!! Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy the stars!
I've been here for many different genres of music and my experience differs depending on the type of crowd the band draws. My daughter won Kelly Clarkson lawn seats and the venue was small enough to hear the music, but the screens were poor quality and quite a few underage drinkers puking around us. Fast forward to Luke Bryan 2013. It took 1 1/2 hrs to exit the highway and drive towards the theatre. We ended up parking about 1 mile away (for $30) due to all the drunken tailgaiters (whereby 30%+ did not even attend the concert and left before the concert started.) The crowd was mellow inside though, and I had seats that made all the difference. Drinks $12? Are we in an upscale Manhattan bar? Tonight is Drake vs. Lil Wayne and it is POURING out. Thank God I have seats. Anxious about the parking though...
I was there to see Jason Aldean. First visit to this venue. I was a little nervous at first based on some reviews, however, it turned out great. The venue inside has great seats. Not really a bad seat in there. The sound was great. The downfalls- parking and drunks. I paid $30.00 to park and walked about 1/2 mile. There was free parking right next to that, however, it was packed with tailgaters and I did not want to leave my car in there. It was packed, but people moved out pretty quickly after the show. I did not get stuck at all in traffic. A lot of drunks, but no one really bother us. That is to be expected anyway. Next time would just like to find somewhere else to park less than $30.00. Overall, good experience. I will be back next month for Luke Bryan. Kim
OK, I don't usually trek to Hartford for shows. Have I driven to upstate NY, southern NJ, and grabbed shows in northern and southern CA when I'm on the west coast? Yes. My oldest son is heading to college in the Fall. He (and his buddies) have become serious DMB fans (just as I've been since the late 90's). We made a last minute decision to grab the Saturday, July 12 show at Comcast (now Xfinity Theatre) knowing nothing about the venue or location. A tripadvisor follower, I read the reviews. They were just AWFUL. And had I really taken them to heart, we'd have missed another fabulous Dave show. Reality #1: We missed out on the deadline to purchase VIP pkg. tx, so we had to park in general parking on a gravel lot and walk. SO WHAT? Reality #2: People (adults and teenagers) were drinking and tailgating in the parking lot near their cars. Again, SO WHAT? Reality #3: Vendors were selling things, fans were scalping tickets, surveys were being taken, flyers were being handed out. SO WHAT? Reality #4: the fence surrounding the lawn area was old and somewhat unsightly, you could not rent chairs (like at PNC arts center, BethelWoods, and SPAC), and the walk into the venue felt like you were a member of a herd of cattle. Again, and finally, SO WHAT? I am 54-years old. I have been following Dave since 1995. My oldest son listened to early Dave in utero. Don't people expect that fans are going to be drinking and smoking on the lawn? Don't people expect that fans (particularly those who are under the influence) will get obnoxious and unruly? Don't people expect that unless you have the cash to pay for awesome viewing seats, that the "concert experience" may not be perfect? You are going to see Dave, not to be coddled. If that's what you want, rent one of his live concerts and watch it in the comfort of your home. If you want to be with fans who love Dave, know all the words to his songs, dance like there's no tomorrow, and get completely stoked the second they hear the opening notes to the song they were praying he'd play, go to the Xfinity Theatre. Suggestion: You need to book VIP parking 10 days in advance of the show to have a hangtag mailed to you for your car. Impossible to get day of show VIP parking unless you get there by 1. The benefit of VIP parking is it's a bit tamer, and you get into the venue faster. However, it doesn't get you OUT any faster unless you leave the concert before the encores OR stay until after the crowds leave. And, if you're driving in from a distance, book a room at ComfortSuites-Southington. Made our lives so much easier. Got a great night's sleep and drove back to NJ fresh in the am. FINALLY: you will be using a port-a-john. It is what it is. If you cannot handle that, DON'T DRINK.
Unless your a drunk who likes to be in shoulder to shoulder crowds don't waste your money. The sound was awful all three bands sounded terrible. The drinking was excessive at best. Mostly underage people passing out and puking everywhere! Woo hoo good times NOT!
Was there to see Zac Brown Band. Never have I been to such a DUMP. How can you charge people to VIP park on gravel ? Place looks worn & used.
Parking is horrible and the screens for the lawn seating very fuzzy. Not clear at all. Shady people in the parking lot at the theater selling stuff. First time going to the Comcast and I think my last.
Great tailgating around the area and the inside of the venue is small, but fairly easy to move around. The downtown location is nice because it's close to many hotels, restaurants and bars. Like any other venue, the food and alcohol are way over-priced. I always have a great time when I visit this venue.
I had read all the reviews of the Comcast (here & on Yelp) before going to see The Black Keys so was expecting & prepared for the worst in terms of traffic, parking, crowds, food, staff, acoustics, etc. We ended up having a great time so expectations are pretty important to how you feel about Comcast. Going there is a lot like going to a Patriot's game at Foxboro, which is also inaccessible and expensive but worth it if you want to see the Pats play. If you go to Comcast with the potential problems in mind, you'll probably really enjoy it. We got there early, paid for VIP parking, had reserved seats, brought plenty of money to purchase expensive food & drink at the venue, & waited around after the show for the parking lot to clear some. The result was a long but very pleasant evening with a great show. I'm sure crowd quality varies dramatically depending on who is performing. The Black Keys crowd was friendly, not wasted or out of control en mass, and the staff were pretty friendly too (the type of crowd probably affects how they react to you). [The same thing happens at Patriot games; if the team rivalry is intense, the crowd can be uglier and how much drunken rowdiness you encounter varies according to where you sit]. One perk I particularly liked at Comcast was being able to buy a bottle of wine to take to our seats which made it unnecessary to keep getting up for refills. Getting out of the parking lots & to the highway entrance was pretty easy and quick as well once some of the traffic had cleared. In all we had a very good experience at Comcast and would go back there to see certain bands.
This theatre has great acoustics which seem to hit perfectly in the center middle of the lawn. I've sat in seat, vip boxes and I will have to say the lawn right at sunset in the summer is the best seat in the house! I will say it doesn't dry well after a rain but it's not too muddy. Be sure to leave halfway through the 1st encore song to miss the traffic. If not, you'll be stuck in the parking lot for an hour or two.
We've been there a couple of times... I think that the venue is alright, but the groups that typically play there bring in a rough crowd. You would think that country music was more mellow or the fans were more calm than with your hard rock acid head followers, but believe it or not the Lynyrd Skynrd concert that I saw a couple of years back was more tame than Brad Paislye or Rascal Flatts.
The venue is okay but not great. Very hard to get there. Traffic is nuts in and around Hartford in general and there is no exception with this place. There was a really good selection of food with some of the lunch trucks that are allowed to enter the facility. The bar facilities are a joke. The prices of beer are $11-14 which is ridiculous and just simply a rip off. Staff were not that friendly over all (we had a couple of exceptions with some very friendly and funny staff). I would probably not attend another concert at this venue if i have other options.
