I have been driving by this train(museum) for sometime but never stopped to look at it. I was very early for dinner with friends, so I walked over in order to take a picture. How, I was amazed to find out it is a museum. I paid $5.00 and spent a hour touring the train cars. Not only are the train cars museum pieces, they hold all the exhibits displays and railroad artifacts. I was very impressed by the guide's knowledge of the trains, artifacts, and area train history.

Not easy to get to but oh so worth the time to visit! My wife and I are NRHS members and made a point to visit this great museum! The 5 dollar admission is worth the price. They offer a tour and explain all artifacts in the museum contained in the cars and explain the history of the steam engine on display outside. They also have a tour of the caboose. They also have for sale books and other assorted memorabilia that has been donated to them to raise funds to keep the museum going. Again it is only open weekends but well worth the visit. GPS co ordinates will get you close to it but park back in the industrial park behind the display track and you will be right at the museum.

The museum is actually in the train cars. You walk through the train cars and view the different displays and train antiques. The tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about trains. The displays are interesting and you are able to touch them and even "drive" the hand pump rail car. The best part about the tour is that you can climb onto the train in different locations like the steam engine area and get a better feel for what life was like working on a steam train. If you are into history, trains, and/or have kids, this is a great place to visit. It should not take you more than an hour to walk through and take pictures. Because this museum is small, there are no bathrooms, food for purchase, or gift shop. Because there is an available ramp, you can actually use a stroller or wheelchair to go through the train cars. Keep in mind that it is street parking in front of the museum and it can get really hot inside. The fee as of September 2014 is $5 and well worth it.

The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable that they really bring the railroad to life! The museum is still very new and it is privately funded so it is small. I would guess you can spend about an hour and a half here, at most. But it is a beautifully restored train (that you can rent out for private parties). There are some wonderful videos and touchable pieces (like a bell from an old train that you can ring). And the grounds are very quaint and well maintained. If you have a train lover or two in the family, make sure you visit. $5 adults, children $2 (Oh and the ticket looks like an old train ticket... lots of great attention to detail here!)
