Open & free parking by a water feature (damed creek) with pathway, benches & ducks galore (many of the turkey head & duck body appearance). Restful place to park, lunch, then stroll through all the antique shops of Boerne (pronounced Bernie).

This well kept and pretty little park winds along the river and provides a nice atmosphere to the town. A good way to spend a half hour or so enjoying a beautiful day.

The best place in town to sit outside, eat your lunch, and feed the ducks. Extensive improvements made our crumbling River Road Park into a beautiful creek-side experience. First named Riverside Park, this location is one of four original parks in Boerne. Now Riverside Park is called River Road Park and it is the busiest park site in town. The park consists of 7.8 acres on the banks of Cibolo Creek and connects to the Heart of Boerne Trail. Home to a variety of ducks and geese (abundant Muscovy ducks and domestic geese are year round residents), so be sure to bring bread crumbs! You may see non-venomous diamondback water snakes resting in the plants, and nutria swimming along. One of the unique features of River Road Park is the dam located at the east end. The dam was deeded to the City of Boerne in July 1912. It was originally known as the old Dietert Mill Dam and was part of the Dietert homestead which was on the south bank of Cibolo Creek. This was the fashionable area for Sunday outings and historic photos show cars parked all along the bank near the dam with everyone dressed in their Sunday best.At Christmas, giant trees made of strings of lights cast a spectacular reflection in the creek. It will definitely put you in the holiday mood.

This is such a nice peaceful place to spend a beautiful sunny day. Lots of ducks on the water to feed and a beautifully kept up area to sit and chat. There is a few metal artwork statues and benches to add to the experience.

We visit the park regularly. It has easy access to the paved walking trail that follows the river. It is always beautiful and peaceful. There are many local bakeries to pick up a delicious homemade snack.

This is a pretty, peaceful, waterside park. There were lots of ducks and geese of several different kinds in the water and along the park edge (which borders the sidewalk and street.) Lots of ducks seemed quite comfortable crossing the street to feed on the lawns on the other side, not the least bit frightened of the cars - quite amusing. There are some nice duck sculptures and the park and water are peaceful and pretty to look at. Be prepared for the fowl to come right up to you, expecting some food. Should you have any, you will be most popular.

My wife and I took a stroll along the beautiful river side path on a chilly November morning. We had previously driven passed on a sunny and warm weekend afternoon and the adjacent parallel parking was full, with many of the concrete picnic benches occupied. This is a very attractive spot, with a clean restroom and lots of waterfowl to enjoy. There were benches at the end of the trail by the plaza area. There were plenty of information boards along the route to make the walk all the more interesting. This is such a worthwhile resource for locals and visitors alike.

Boerne is a great day trip. Be sure to take a little time to walk the River Road Park. The city has put a lot of money into the trails, and I was surprised at how beautiful they turned out. Walked from Dodging Duck Pub up to the Main Street area and loved the nature and beauty. Only fifteen minutes to create a great memory. Well worth a few minutes!

romantic, peaceful, nice way to get through old town without the noise or busieness of traffic. Ducks, turtles, trees, park benches...

It's like going back in time. A nice clean, family friendly park. Lots of shade and a beautiful view. Children fishing and feeding the ducks.

This is a great walkway that the city has been working on. In my opinion it still needs some cleaning up in the creek area but otherwise very nice, enjoyable peaceful area to walk or picnic. It runs was River Rd. under the bridge on Main St. and ends at Ye Olde Kendall Inn. There are picnic tables on River Road (although traffic right there) and there is a more secluded concrete table just past the bridge under a nice oak. This walkway is accessible from several areas off Main Street but didn't notice any posted signs for it. The concrete pathway is wide and cleaned on both sides. BUT beware of the duck & geese doo:) There is a section with bunches of ducks & geese and lots of poop! It is like hopscotch to get around it without stepping in it. I did notice maintenance picking up trash but don't know how often they power wash the walkway. The geese apear to be very docile and walk right by you and don't really move too fast making for a great photo op. There are 1/4 mile markers along the way and great landscaping and boulders to sit and rest. Not sure of the entire distance but maybe 1 mile or so. There is restroom facilities on the River Road end of walkway/park. If you are driving through or staying a night make sure to take a stroll along this area and/or enjoy a picnic lunch. Great for a morning or evening jog or walk as well.

Nestled on the Cibolo Creek, this little park is a good getaway from your daily grind. Traffic along River Road makes getting in/out of your vehicle a hassle, but once you're strolling along the new walkways, you quickly forget about it. There are PLENTY of waterfoul to enjoy, just be sure to watch where you step.

Been going to the riverside park in Boerne since 1985, and it has evolved, been washed away entirely, and been restored, and now it is in top shape, beautiful walkways and rockwork, picnic tables, with the fish and ducks and gees and turtles everywhere. Great place to grab fast food and go sit an enjoy. Don't miss this little relaxed piece of Boerne, Texas.

My family & I, my girls just young things at the time, picnicked in this park years ago, & had a great time. We even saw a river otter swimming/floating by...ok, my husband informed me it was a nutrient rat, but it looked like an otter to me! ;-) My mom & I were in Boerne again this past weekend for a retreat, & wished we had more time to visit this pretty park, feeding the ducks & geese. We saw one gentleman fishing! Not sure how successful he was. I highly recommend carving out just a bit of time to relax & enjoy the nature this park has to offer!
