This is a great place to spend a couple of hours (or longer if you wish). The farm is great, the staff is terrific and the tea house has a nice offering of gluten free, vegan food. The Lavender Scones and Tea are my favs! The lavender is heavenly and they have a nice small gift shop with plenty of items to choose from.

Lavender has always been associated with tranquility, calmness and and a gentler, slower paced time. The Purple Adobe Lavender Farm situated in the lovely picturesque town of Abiquiu is a charming spot to visit—conveniently located off the main road through the town. I purchased lavender bath products made from the organic lavender grown on the farm—lavender bath salts, candle and body mist. Moderately priced and such a great way to indulge yourself or give as a gift (I kept mine). The restaurant (gluten free menu items!) was charming and sipping lavender tea and enjoying the farm ambience is a great break from touring the local artist studios.

We had lunch at Bode's General Stores, toured the O'Keeffe Home and Studio and stopped at the Purple Adobe Lavender Farm on the way back from Santa Fe. It was towards the end of the day, and thus there were no baked goods and the accompanying little cafe was minutes from closing. However, we all purchased lovely lavender items and were most happy! The highway sign pointing to the Purple Adobe is small but kindly purple. Once you are off the highway, though, the way is well-marked with purple flags.

I had such fun shopping at the store. I love their products and am very happy with what I purchased. staff were very courteous and helpful. Then went over to the new restaurant and had lavendar scone and tea. Delightful! I will be back!

If you are looking for something to do outside of Santa Fe and you have a 2-3 hours, I would highly recommend taking a drive the Lavendar Farms. It is approx. 1 hour north of town and a scenic ride on a clear day. Once you arrive you can smell the Lavendar in the air. It is typically harvested in July, so the fields won't be full of purple blooms if go in August like I did, but it was still very enjoyable. There is a small building near the parking area that sells their many products that are wonderful, from body lotion, soaps, candles, sachets, and more. These products are also seen at many spas around the Santa Fe area. Another building across the lavender field is a tea room where you can relax and enjoy a cup of lavender tea which was delicious.Just a note, since this an organic farm, if you are traveling with your dog it must stay in the car.

Drove a couple of hours out to Abiquiu for the Lavender Festival in July and was surprised to find a very spartan crop of lavender, a couple of small green houses, a snack shack, a little lavender retail product store, and a few tent vendors over from Santa Fe hoping to sell their products to a very small turn out of people. We were hoping for a larger venue, but hey, it's New Mexico, everything is a work in progress as the people are barely shifting out of 1st gear to get down the unimproved roads. A small bar of lavender soap was priced at $7.50, so they obviously had a Santa Fe state of mind which caters to the rich. Hope they enjoy their lovely lavender luxury. I believe the Purple Adobe farm is a good work which has great potential for growth with incredibly rich soil, a breathtaking landscape, and true to the Georgia O'Keefe artistic legacy surrounding Abiquiu.

I love to support agri-tourism so I definitely felt this was worth a visit. It's a 2-year old farm with a small shop and comfortable spot to enjoy some lavender tea and scones. the owner has ambitious plans to add a lavender labyrinth and a casita. It's in lovely country. It's a lovely drive from Santa Fe, and if you keep heading northwest you can visit Georgia O'keefe's home and the Ghost Ranch retreat center. The scenery gets nicer and nicer.
