There was an interesting display of student art work in one of the galleries. The storytelling display was very interesting. No one was around to guide or ask questions so that was a little unsual.

Gallup is a city that is in the heart of the Navajo Nation. The Cultural Center has lots of exhibits and pictures of the Native American Culture and some very informative films which I really enjoyed. I truly enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Highly recommend.

I actually stopped in because it had a tourist info booth in the train station. The two statues out front should have clued me in that it was something more. There is a Masters art gallery which was good but what really got and held my attention was the Storytellers Museum. It was fascinating. Between pictures and exhibits it showed how things were done in a very informal way. It is small, should only take an hour for the whole thing but once you are done you can stop at Angela's cafe on the way out for lunch - well worth the time.

There isn't much to see or do in Gallup so this is a must, as well as the Rex Museum - but that was closed on the weekend! Gallup has a proud history which you could miss if you don't stop here.

We were looking for a place to stay but all we could see was people standing around in the parking lots, was afraid to leave our car unattended the town really needs a face lift.

A self guided tour of some interesting displays of art and Gallup. Sand painting and kachina carving are show. Art from competitions is also displayed. Cute cafe in the same building. Nice bathrooms. Still a waiting room for trains.

The building is hosting art, by local school children and adults.Am looking forward to receiving purchase of Monument ValleyBy 8th grader Anthony APachito.. (Sorry if I spelt that wrong)Bless your talent , you will do very well.We saw artifacts, fascinating understanding of life for the Native Americans and their ways of living and thriving in New Mexico. If you're in Gallup, it is so worth a visit. Please donate a little something if you can, buy some art... It all helps the heritage x and wow, what talent these budding artists have ...

We started our visit with a cup of Chai and friendly conversation in Angela's Cafe, which is located on the first floor. History is so important and this is the opportunity to learn a little more about Navajo Code Talkers. The museum is on the 2nd floor. Take the time and go upstairs. Walk around and enjoy the displays and exhibits. If you are in Gallup, definitely add this to your list of places to visit.

We stopped here for the first time and had some awesome carrot cake, espresso, and tea and the little cafe inside. The ladies were so friendly, and there are funny signs all around to read. Upstairs are some cultural and art exhibits to look at. No entry fee. Note that this is also the Amtrak station for Gallup, and there is a small gift shop. Worth a stop for about 20 minutes.

The second floor museum was full of traditional items made by native craftsmen from bygone years and paintings also. The sand painting on the floor was fabulous. There is also a display dedicated to the Navajo Code Talkers who served during World War Two. Without these men the war could have turned out quite differently.

I love the variety of tribes you can visit. The Navajo (Dine') are great friends, as well as Acoma, Zuni, Laguna, Apache, and others. There is much to learn about living and values that are being embraced by environmentalist that have been a way of life here forever. Give the Native Americans credit! They told us not to destroy the land and destroy for no reason... only now do some of us listen.
