We called here late one afternoon after a Fall Foliage day coach tour into southern New Hampshire from Boston. So this review is probably written from a different perspective to most.We didn't get the chance to look around any of the orchards etc but from an English tourist's point of view it is a lovely 'old fashioned'/'olde worlde' farmshop and that it is a compliment. Everything including the fresh produce was beautifully laid out and nicely presented. I liked all the outdoor displays including the scarecrow and the pumpkins.Again without being patronising in any way, it was really nice for those of us just visiting a large city in the main to see some of a lovely part of rural America. The goods on sale were well appreciated by our group although perhaps the long queues were partly down to the very attractive lady on the till.A really lovely and enjoyable half hour's visit and one I will remember.
We've been visiting Brookdale in the fall for years now. Even though we have orchards on our town we drive to this one for the variety of Apples and all the other activities. My kids like the small corn maze and the chickens. Also, the store is great to walk around and has plenty of fresh produce, baked goods, and local goods. You have to get a picture next to the giant scarecrow. There's also usually ice cream and wood fired pizza for sale if you need something else to eat besides apples.
Beautiful place and my daughters loved eating/picking the strawberries. They also enjoyed the ice cream stand on site. I thought the shop was great, full of local produce, preserves, eggs, etc. if I were a local I'd be there regularly!
Our focus is on their pick your own berries. Cherries, blueberries, raspberries - red, gold and black - and blackberries. In no time you are in and out with pounds of fruit!
It's hard not to compare Brookdale and Lull Farms, as they are only yard away from one another. While Lull has a much nicer indoor farm stand with better selection, Brookdale's pick-your-own is hands down far better than that of Lull. Their season runs longer - you can still pick an abundance of certain berries at Brookdale weeks after Lull's bushes are bare, and their apple selection is impressive. The guys (and gals) at the apple stand love sharing their knowledge about apple varieties, grafting, and history, and they're always very friendly and helpful. So...when we want to do some fruit picking, we go to Brookdale. When we want some farm stand goodies, we go to Lull! (And sometimes we go to both in one day :))
I was on a fall Foliage Tour out of Boston and we stopped in here for about 30 minutes or so. Great little place to stop in and enjoy some of the sites. They make allot of home made pastries and stuff that are really. I had a pumpkin mufffin which I loved. Also, hot apple cider was really good too. Would love to stop in here again one day.
This farm makes for a nice family outing. Pick your own in season or buy from the farm stand.
