Common Street Arts is an art gallery, performance space, and teaching studio. They've had a very successful first year. The gallery shows are first-rate artwork by Maine artists. Some of the exhibitions have shown previously at Harlow Gallery and others. The gallery has a strong relationship with Colby Museum of Art and collaborative programming is frequently presented. Past performances have included flamenco dancers and music. At the forefront of Waterville's growing creative economy, the gallery is well worth a visit. Gallery admission is free.Every time I am in there, I feel like I've stepped into an artspace in Boston or New York, where the pure white walls, the multi-hued floor, and the art provide a soothing relief from the cares of the day. If you're fortunate to be in Waterville during one of their performance nights, be sure to stop by.
