This is a grand old church. The church was established around 1770. The current building is just over 100 years old, both is is the 3rd building on the property. This beautiful church is I believe the 3rd oldest in Louisiana. For genealogist, this church has great records going back to its beginnings. St. Landry Parish took its name from the church. This church is beautiful inside and out.

Majestic church, well worth the time to visit. The church was founded by French Capuchin priests in 1770. The edifice is of Gothis form. THe stain glass windows were made in France by Germans.

St. Landry Catholic Church is a beautiful old church. Across from church is a very old cemetary. Sometimes there are tours offered.

This is a very old church and it is something to see. We are not members of this church as we live on the south side of town but paid extra to be married here.

Beautiful church. The inside is the best. Still retains the old style, individualized pew sections as used many years ago. Was worth the stop while in Opelousas.

I was looking for a church that I could attend while I was travelling on business. I checked for mass times in the area and found that St Landry's held a daily lunchtime weekday mass. This was perfect, but I was not sure what to expect. What a pleasant surprise. The old church looked rather plain from the outside, but at the same time it looked stately. The interior is spectacular. It is much larger inside than it appears from the outside. I was impressed. A great place to kneel and pray. If you are in the area, it would be worth a stop.

This beautiful old cathedral is well kept and still in use. Long history here, well preserved church, and a cemetery tour with graves of people you would not imagine!

Stunning, Catholic church. It is the largest and most beautiful church in St. Landry Parish. If you appreciate architecture, you must visit. Opelousas Catholic School holds all of their school masses and functions here.
