On this cold dreary day in mid-February, it is great to read a nice review of the farm from last season. I'm glad you enjoyed your pumpkin patch and petting farm visit. We do get a lot of visitors during the Fall season. I'm glad you thought we were working hard to make everyone's visit enjoyable. That is definitely our goal no matter how many people come to visit, we want them all to enjoy their time at the farm. We hope you come visit us in 2015. Come in the Spring when the sun is shining, the grass is green, the baby animals are romping around their pens and there are fewer visitors. Thank you for taking the time to send us a review. It has been a labor of love to bring the characters, buildings and attractions from the original site of the Enchanted Forest (just 5 miles from our farm) to have a new life at Clark's Elioak Farm. As a location where families enjoy visiting our animals and a relaxed day in a country setting, the chance to see the attractions you know and love from the Enchanted Forest is an added bonus. We are pleased another generation of children can enjoy them as well.

It is so nice to have adults visit the farm and enjoy meeting and playing with our goats and other farm animals. We welcome everyone from all age groups at the farm, but many people think they need to "bring a child" to come. We certainly cater to families with children and many of our attractions are specifically for little ones, but there is much to enjoy on the farm for people of all ages. Thanks for coming on your own and for taking the time to tell us you enjoyed the visit.

Your visit with your daughters to see the Enchanted Forest attractions at our farm is exactly why we moved and restored all those attractions over the past decade. Many of the people who work with me on the farm also grew up going to the Enchanted Forest. Those childhood visits are some of our greatest memories. We are delighted to be able to make all of the Enchanted Forest attractions available to those who want to revisit them and introduce them to the next generations in their families. I'm so pleased you had a chance to share your memories with your daughters as you viewed your "old friends" from the magical Enchanted Forest.

Thank you for your review of the farm. I'm so pleased your toddler enjoyed the visit. Many of the farm's attractions and rides are mainly for the little ones. We believe people of all ages enjoy the animals and the Enchanted Forest attractions, but the play areas, slides and rides are mostly for the children. We look forward to your return visit with us.

If that is the experience that people have when they visit us, we have done our job. Yes, we are a rather unusual mixture of petting farm and storybook park. When we had the opportunity to save and restore the Enchanted Forest we thought it was too important to pass up, so we jumped at the chance. We felt it was important to the people who wanted us to save the Enchanted Forest attractions to keep them as they were at the original site, so that is why we made as few modifications to them as possible. It does mean they are "antiquated" but also authentic. We strive continually to maintain a safe environment at the farm and will continue to monitor the rides and slides and other attractions to make sure they are safe. Saving the Enchanted Forest attractions has been an important part of our mission for the last decade. It means a lot to us that people who visited there in the past get a chance to see the attractions again and also share them with the next generations in their families. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. I'm pleased your granddaughter enjoyed her visit and that you thought it was a reasonable value. Keeping up with the toy area is one of our hardest jobs. We clean the toys on a regular basis, but they get dirty again so quickly. Being an outdoor venue, it is so hard to keep dust and dirt off the toys. If we concrete more surfaces, we could keep the dust down and the footing more even, but then we move away from being a farm. The rubber mats are definitely more uneven for walking around, but they are a softer surface for the children to pay on. I appreciate your comments and use them as I revise and improve our daily maintenance plans for the farm. Thank you. We hope you plan to visit us again in 2015.

It is great to hear your comments about our farm products---our meats, eggs and vegetables. We do try to have the meats and eggs available year-round and the vegetables available in the summer. Check our website for dates and times we are open. Getting on the email list is a great way to keep informed about what is available for sale. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Thank you taking the time to give us your thoughtful comments. We are very lucky to be so centrally-located in the Baltimore-Washington corridor. Our family has been farming in Howard County for over 200 years, and we are in a great location for many people to be able to get to visit us a short distance from home. As a real working farm, we have no commercial kitchen facilities and only portapots for restrooms. We invite you to bring your own lunch and enjoy it in our picnic area. We love the farm we grew up on and enjoy sharing the open spaces, friendly animals and fresh air with our visitors. Thank you for visiting from Rockville. Come back in 2015.

I shared your review with everyone on staff as soon as I read it (back in April) and we talked about what we are doing wrong and what we can do to make sure everyone's experience is excellent. I hope that your experience was the exception, but even one person having that bad an experience is unacceptable.
