We didn't go inside this lighthouse. If you pay admission to the Chesapeake Maritime museum, this lighthouse entry is included with admission. However, we got there at 4:45pm when closing was 5pm. After 5pm, you can walk up to the lighthouse and take pictures for free. There is a gift shop there that has some nice articles for sale. This lighthouse has a cool octagonal shape and is not high, but good for photos.

A chance to see how a lighthouse keeper lived in such a closed in quarters ----- amazing way of life it must have been

The Lighthouse and area is very pretty. We went there the day after Thanksgiving and no one was there so we walked around and took pictures and decided to come back the following day to visit the gift shop, we were lookig for some nautical decor.

That was the first time I visited a lighthouse. I love lighthouses and I was so happy. The visit is free and it's, actually, a museum, showing the guests how life in a lighthouse was like in the past.

Can't miss this one...great view and some hands on actions for the kids. Great photo opportunities for the family or just a group of friends.

Classic Chesapeake screw-pile lighthouse. Restored nicely. We were a bit spooked on the way to the top. We felt something unusual on our ascent to the fresnel lens. We felt a sudden whiff of cold air in an otherwise closed compartment. It became stronger accompanied by sudden shaking and erratic bouncing sounds. We started to developed goose bumps after we checked there were no vents or open windows. By then, we realized how old this lighthouse was as we descended as fast as we could.

It is really cool to walk up to the top and look out at the Mile's River. Nicely curated, great displays.

Always enjoy lighthouses - the one was an interesting tour as there are a number of displays inside, and visitors have free reign to look around at their own pace. This is a great attraction for the family, history buffs, or lighthouse enthusiasts!

I recently went to St. Michael's and toured the 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse. It was a very well restored building and the items on display were really interesting. Makes you appreciate our modern conveniences so much more. The view from the top of the lighthouse is quite remarkable. The cost to enter the park was $15.00; which to me was a little steep considering what was available to see. I didn't run into any tour guides or people offering information on the items to be seen or historical details. If a self paced/guided tour is what you are looking for than this is the place.

This is part of the Chesapeake Maritime Museum and is not your typical tall striped lighthouse. The building is octagonal and has several levels. Displays show how the keeper lived; families not allowed due to danger of this type of building being demolished by ice and other weather problems. Great views of the Miles River and entrance to the Bay from the top.

The Hooper Strait Lighthouse was great. We climbed to the top of the screwpile lighthouse and experienced the life of a lighthouse keeper including alook at the rea "out"house!

What a walk through. A very enjoyable and educationally rewarding experience. The display showed what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper

Small compared to the tall ones out there. However, the life of a lighthouse keeper was nicely displayed. Good self guided tour, great questions to ponder especially for kids. Ok and the guy in the bunk scared me! Didn't expect it. Fun and educational!

Took a drive to see the Lighthouse. Very interesting. There are so many different types of lighthouses and like to see what each are like.

The best part of touring the Chesapeake Maritime Museum! Touring the 18th century Hooper Strait Lighthouse brought here to rest. You can walk through all rooms with artifacts from the days when the keepers lived there 5 miles out to see for months at a time and get to know their duties - and harsh life conditions.
