Plenty of room top park, great photographic opportunities, small military museum and the War is outstanding and well maintained.
It is well worth a visit to the "top" oh Goulburn. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the memorial, museum, and the view
Although the War Memorial & Museum were not open when we visited, the view was well worth the drive. You can see all of Goulburn and beyond. I will visit again next time I am travelling past Goulburn and hopefully the Memorial & Museum will be open!
This memorial is on the hill looking over the town. It can be accessed from the turnoff coming south into town near McDonalds and from the south from a turn off on Windellema roadThe memorial is for the veterans and there is a small car park some 100 metres from the memorial. Recently they have upgraded the area around the memorial and they plan to have the dawn ceremony there in April 2015.So its a lovely view, a little hard to find unles you know the turn offs but worth the drive.
If you've stopped in Goulburn, it's well worth the drive (or walk) to the top of Rocky Hill. There is a fine view of the town from the top and the War Memorial and Museum grounds (the museum ws closed) are intersting and informative.
The structure is actually an inland Lighthouse. This and the museum are well presented and well worth the visit
Well worth the trip up the hill for both the view and Museum. There is more to see and do in Goulburn than some may think.
Only dislike is the incline for us oldies, but the memorial and the museum were a credit to the city. I recommend this memorial to all visitors.
Great views over Goulburn at this recently renovated War Memorial. Unfortunately, the museum was not open but we enjoyed walking in the garden and reading the sign scattered around.
I recommend the Rocky Hill War\Memorial and Lookout to any visitor to Goulburn. Unfortunatey, the Museum was closed during my visit.
Having grown up and spent my school years at Goulburn it was great to come back to Rocky Hill.As kids we would play amid the giant marble shaped boulders that scatter around the place. That area was known as The Glades. Not a lot has changed. The view is mostly as I remembered it and the memorial items on show were likewise. For me it was a kind of homecoming, mainly to visit my grandparents gravesites.I do urge visitors to Goulburn to spend a little time here and understand a bit more of war.
The views from up on rocky hill are fantastic. It was very windy the day I was up there so The upstairs section of the tower was closed. The museum they have there has some great items and the volunteers who man the door are very knowledgable.Probably the only thing that is missing is some food and drink to buy.
Good views but mind the spiders in the loos! You can walk up the tower and it shows a good sense of history.
Everyone living in or visiting Goulburn has seen this monument to war heroes. However, I suggest you walk up to the base of the tower and take a look from the viewing area then 360 degree views of Goulburn !
Having lived in Goulburn for some time in the past I was well aware of the Rocky Hill War Memorial but I was not aware of the adjacent museum. We wandered in mid morning on a recent Saturday and were greeted by a very friendly, knowledgeable man who made us feel very welcome. He gave us a guide and offered to answer any questions we may have during our visit. The museum is very well set up and has some quite interesting exhibits including an original Changi prison door. We meandered around for over an hour and learned a lot about Goulburns contribution to the war and how hard life must have been for our diggers. A real eye opener and definitely worth a look.
