The underground lake inside the cave is stunning! However, visitors must be reasonably mobile as there are quite a few steps to descend and climb, some of which are pretty steep. The guided tour is very good.
Lakes cave is stunning and so peaceful, our guide was very informative, she made every moment of the tour interesting.
Lake Cave is an absolute must see if you visit Margaret River. Crusty the tour guide is absolutely awesome. He has an incredible amount of knowledge and is a very funny character too. The cave is quite deep and there are a lot of steps. Going down the steps is OK but it's quite tiring coming back up but it's worth it. The cave is smaller than Mammoth and Jewel caves but it's absolutely beautiful. The suspended table floating on the water has to be seen to be believed.
The Lake Cave is quite small but has some very unique features. Once you've descended into the depths, there's an underwater stream which creates a kind of lake. Amazing formations are to be seen everywhere and one feature that is neat, is a suspended table. When you look at it initially, you think it's floating on the water or goes to the ground, but it's actually suspended! Our tour guide Rikki was really good, giving us a bit of history, photo shoots by directing her torch at certain areas in the dark cave, and providing a bit of humour. Then it was a climb to the top and they also have a deck with thick glass which you can walk on. Some people were freaking out which was rather amusing. It's good to then browse around the shop to catch your breath and cool down.
There is 300 steps down and 300 steps up. I found it rather strenuous coming up, but definitely worth it. The cave itself inside is rather small, but the lake is worth the effort. Tour guides very friendly.
On arriving I was informed that a tour was just leaving, so I rushed down this big hole in the ground (good solid stairs) and was met by Liam. Liam took us even further down and into the cave itself. This is a small cave compared to other caves that I have visited, but the infrastructure is excellent and the high light of the cave is the suspended platform, and of course the underground lake.Climbing back out of the hole was not nearly as bad as I was expecting and took less than 5 minutes on the solid steps.
stunning cave just south of margaret river, this is a must see if you are in the region although it is one of the smaller caves it is still worth a look as it is one of the only caves in the region that still has a body of water in it which makes it absolutely stunning. be prepared for a decent hike tho as the stairs are a fair climb.
The tour around lake cave was spectacular. Good value for money and thoroughly enjoyable. My only offshore is that is only a small cave. I know they can't tunnel the cave to make it larger but there are larger caves in the world that would score a 5 rating in my book. I just wanted to explain why I only gave out 4 stars. The tour guide was great. The cave interior is spectacular and very pretty. I got some great photos that I'll not forget in a hurry. The suspended table is one of nature's most wonderful sights. This is a 'must see' for anyone visiting the area.
If you don't mind a walk "down" into a massive hole(doline) you will be impressed with what is at the end! This was the second cave of our holiday visit and to stand inside this cave and know that it was still "growing" was a great feeling of time. These caves are under threat of the water table dropping and the fact that the Lake cave has water running in it is fantastic!! To see what nature is creating at this time in moment and you are standing in it is one for the history books for you. Must see for what our caves would have looked like when they were still growing.
If with the long walk down and back up all those stairs, it was well worth it. The guide was very informative.
G'day 1237853,Thanks for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed all three caves. They are completely different and each have their own special character.Safe travels.
Its a very beautiful place - scenic, quiet and calm. Definitely worth the visit. Going in and down to the cave was easy but getting back out will challenge your fitness level with about 280+ steps. Well, at least you get your workout sorted after the awesome visit. It wasnt a long walk in the cave. About 85m long and 65m deep.Got an awesome tour guide as well with a good sense of humor as well - Liam. Thanks for the guided tour, Liam!
Lake cave is a beautiful cave with a natural stream running through the length of the cave. The worlds only known 'suspended table' and a range of amazing geological formations. There are many steps down into a sunken garden that was once a cave itself and then a few more down into the cave. No need to worry about the steps though - if you take your time on the way up its no problem at all. There is no clambering over or under rocks and the path is very easy - not too sure what others are complaining about here. Its well worth visiting and you don't have to be particularly fit to enjoy this cave.
A great cave to visit. The lake in the cave was at a high level so it was amazing. Well worth a visit! Lots of steps to get down to it however, very easy walking in the cave. The reflections in the water are magical.
