Totally worth stopping to see such a beautiful Cross. You can see it lit up from the highway.Great place to walk around and enjoy the area

The Cross at the Crossroads is the largest Christian cross in North America and is at the intersection of I-70 & I-57 in Effingham, Illinois. Visitors can walk up to the 198' cross, visit the 10 Commandment stations, watch a film of the creation of the cross, and push a pin in the big map telling where visitors come from. It is a great place to spend some time in prayer and reflection in the shadow of the most familiar religious symbol in the world.

The simple beauty & the meaning of the cross. The video was very informative. The location was right off the interstate and easy on and off.

It was very cool to see. You can see it from the interstate but it is huge in person. There is also audio files playing and benches to sit on too.

I think that the cross is wonderful. Maybe there should be more of them. Nice touch to the Interstates. We busy Americans travelling cross country like to be reminded that our Lord is with us.

Thanks for the lovely landmark....a beautiful reminder where the highways cross in Illinois. We spent the night in Effingham and enjoyed seeing the cross.

We could see this from quite a distance away and once we got up close it seemed even taller. Around the base are stones with the ten commandments and a recording that talks about each commandment. The visitor center was not open at the time we visited, but we enjoyed the grounds and taking some pictures of the cross.

Don't miss the breathtaking view from the bottom of the largest cross in the world. Walk around the grounds and listen to the word via the beautiful talking displays.

Being a resident of a nearby town, we have a chance once in a while to stop in and visit the Cross and the Grounds as well as the Visitor Center. We have found the volunteers at the Cross are very knowledgeable and helpful. The volunteers are from all the different churches in our area, so there will be no "one" religion represented. We were told a few weeks ago that there was talk of building a stage on the property so they could host more Gospel Music events with more Gospel Music groups. We have been lucky enough to have (Scott Wattles) a very good local performer who does Gospel Music as well as Elvis impersonating to hold small concerts at the base of the Cross. In the visitors Center, is a small video viewing room where they show a video of the construction of the Cross that is very interesting, as well as a lovely Chapel where weddings are also performed.

The cross was beautiful and the grounds were clean and kept up very nicely. There was one speaker not working, however that did not really effect our personal experience. Definitely worth stopping by.

Awesome experience! Video very informative, volunteers extremely friendly and helpful. Kind of difficult to get to if you don't know where you're going but worth the trip.

This is an incredible place. Anyone passing by should take the time to visit. At night or in the daytime this massive cross is a sight to behold. Don't be afraid to go in the Visitor's Center, the volunteers there are always happy to tell you anything you want to know about the cross or the area.

Enjoyed the small film on how this cross was built. beautiful day to just walk around the base of cross, or sit and listen to the one of the ten commandments spoken by people who had donated to the program. People manning the desk were very friendly and informative. The grounds were so well kept ...by volunteers We seen this from the road but wow being this close you realise how large it is.

This feature to the area really speaks for itself! I strongly encourage anyone to go see and feel the majesty behind this attraction!!! Definitely the place to come when needing to find a center in one's life!

Though our unhelpful GPS took us away from the cross at first, the sheer size meant we could not miss it. Really nice spot with friendly people ready to greet you. The visitors center is not a nursing home as it first appears, but rather has a wonderful 8 minute video about how the cross was constructed. I'm a fan.
